Staff were welcoming and helpful in recommending good restaurants close by. Unfortunately it was too cool to enjoy the gorgeous pool. Only a 5 minute drive to the historic part of Matera. "

"Hotel first: Basiiani Hotel is a marvel in a town once called the 'Shame of Italy'. It is a hotel that is comprised of several rooms carved into caves that used to be people's homes. It is awesome. The decor, beds, bathroom and amenities all top notch. The staff friendly and the buffet breakfast was great. Highly recommended. Now the town of Matera.... you must go. Truly out of this world and worth every adjective of beauty."

"Fantastic place to stay! Great price! Beautiful view! Amazing Room & staff especially Mario , fantastic personality, helpful , who greeted us at the top of the stairs where the taxi dropped us off & carried our luggage down 80 steps to our room. Breakfast offered was so good with fresh bakery goods and yummy cappuccino. Come to this hotel, it is next door to the sextantio where our friends stayed and struggled with lighting in their rooms.
