"This is a dorm during the school year that serves as a hotel in the summer. My room had a private bath, and was small but comfortable. The staff were very friendly. It was convenient to downtown Akureyri, and also very close to a lovely botanical garden. It was perfect for what I needed. I did not pay extra for the buffet breakfast. The bed was more comfortable than other dorm accommodations I have stayed in. It was quiet and peaceful."

"The Lighthouse Inn is a hidden gem. Beautiful, clean and bright throughout and located in a gorgeous, peaceful setting. Even though it may be a little out of the way, it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant was excellent.. and very reasonably for dinner with a wonderful buffet breakfast included. We really can't think of any complaints/suggestions. We would absolutely come back the next time we're in the area. "
