"We found the property clean but lacking, certainly not "Superb". The decor was sparse e.g. bare light bulbs. Negatives Bathroom: no mirror, no towel rails, only one hand towel in the property for three. Kitchen: Two sets of knives & forks for three, no large glasses or wine glasses, no fire blanket/extinguisher, no downstairs smoke alarm I could spot. "Good host, but property cannot be said to be “stunning”! It looks better in the pictures. "

"The house is clean in the main areas that you need i.e. clean sheets and towels. However, it needs a good deep clean between the gaps of the couch, 'stuff' under the foot stool when moved, mold near the hand basin, bubbling above shower, dishes/cutlery needing a good wash. A fan in summer would have been helpful and had to chase the host for check-in details. Photos are better than what is actually is and could do with some maintenance and tlc."

"Pros: Really good communication from host. Decorated nicely. Log burner (extra charge if using hosts logs). Milk in fridge. 8 minutes drive to Beamish museum. 4 minutes drive to a really good play park and splash area, by the river. Comfy beds and bedding. The accommodation was really clean. Shower heats up quick, large shower head. Dog bowls and biscuit treats - nice extra. Cons: Oven was broken by previous guest (on request, host was really good at providing air fryers). Okay but very warm

"Staff are friendly, pub and grill is good but rooms were really warm at night, and it sounded like an elephant was walking above our room on the second floor. I’d suggest when booking with a child not to put us above the bar terrace, it was loud for a long time. "

"As always, a great hotel with big extremely clean rooms, a fantastic bar area and excellent staff. It’s my favourite hotel in Newcastle/Gateshead. One morning, I had to ask the cleaning ladies to keep their voices down as they were talking very loudly. However, they were very polite, apologised, and made a real effort to be quiet while cleaning the rooms next to mine. Thank you! "
