The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for meal preparations. Showers were hot.
We kept fit negotiating the stairs to our room. Parking was secure.
A lovely, helpful lady greeted us. It's an older-style backpackers' accommodation with great kitchen facilities. However, don't do what I did and put everything in the kitchen. At midnight, I needed a bottle for my one-year-old and didn't realize the kitchen would be closed. Thankfully, my baby was content with strawberry milk. There's a first time for everything. We'll definitely be back in the future.
Small room but very comfortable pillows and bed. Good view from balcony. Friendly staff. Good size share kitchen, lounge room, including pool table. Nice clean share bathrooms. Plenty of cosy sitting areas. Highly recommend.
Both my wife and I stubbed our little toes on the queen bed legs. The bed itself was beaut to sleep in. The room was reasonably warm and cosy despite overcast weather outside. The TV was interesting for the subscription channels you could get on it, though we couldn't work out how to get normal tv channels.
Toilets and showers were communal but that didn't bother us. A toilet cistern in the men's needed a new inlet valve to stop an overflow leak into the bowl, a women's basin didn't drain quickly and a hot water tap in one of the women's showers was difficult for my wife's not-so-strong hand to turn off fully despite a sign requesting that it be closed firmly; these are simple plumbing jobs to fix and excusable over a weekend.
Only just enough room for cars in the backyard when the hotel is fully booked; 2 hour limit in the foreshore street at the back. The long flight of stairs from the carpark was quaint and good exercise. One overhead beam was suitably signed, good duty of care.
Tea and coffee stand was available upstairs with cups, kettle and fridge. The concierge was a visa worker from France and she was lovely.
The hotel's central location was a boon, enabling easy explore of Geraldton's main streets and access to the foreshore. Eats from a nearby bakery and a nearby fish and chip shop were reasonably priced.
The property is very old and the property photo deceiving. There was lots of unavoidable noise from other guests just going about normal things leading to creaks and bumps in the night. The room was small and the smell of air freshener overwhelming leading to headaches. The amenities were below par, leaking and a delay in the lights turning on after using the Switch.
The bed was comfortable and clean and the staff lovely.
How this property scores a 9 defies logic!!
We rang and left a message and no one returned the call. They were messaging on the app but that didn't always alert that a message was waiting to be read. Apart from that everything else was good.
Beautiful stay small part but noteworthy there was an undertone of presumption upon greeting the owner i felt she had presumed so much before i arrived and to be fair i had also presumed alot i was surprised that a patron was camped in his van next to my car it seem a little contradictory
We (a couple) stayed one night at the Shoreline Lodge, and while it was clean, I have to say that other aspects weren't so impressive. We arrived admittedly late (10pm) and found that the car park was full. I called the after-hours manager/reception twice and received no response, leaving us to park on the street and risk fines.
You share a common (gender-segregated) bathroom with the whole floor and it can be a decent walk from your room. The fact of having a common bathroom isn't made especially clear on the listing.
Finally, the most difficult aspect for me was the noise, our room seemed to be in the middle of the floor and from 7am, thanks to the paper thin walls, I was kept awake by the sound of opening doors, conversations and footsteps on the creaky wooden floor from all sides. I understand it is an old building, but it was unpleasant and disrupted my sleep significantly - bring earplugs!
Maybe we were just unfortunate, but I felt let down by the experience as a whole, and while it is cheap, clean, and the one staff member I met was friendly, I don't feel I would return.
