"If you are looking for a safe place to stay, especially as a woman or parent traveling with children — do NOT stay here.
I was laying in the living room wide awake when I heard the unmistakable click of a hotel room lock being scanned. The door slowly started opening, and at first I thought it was my son trying to sneak up on me. Instead, it was a random man peeking into my room. We made eye contact and he immediately shut the door.
I called the front desk shaken and scared. Their response? “It was probably housekeeping.” No knock. No announcement. No apology.
A few minutes later, I came out of the bathroom to find another man STANDING INSIDE my room telling me I “should have been checked out.” It was 9:00 in the morning.
I called the front desk again and explained that I was alone in the room and frightened that strange men were repeatedly entering without permission. The situation was brushed off like it was no big deal.
We spend around 40 nights a year in hotels and I have NEVER experienced anything this unsafe or unprofessional before.
