"I like the hotel and don't want to be too negative, but I told them ahead of time that I was getting engaged and they didn't do anything to try and make it feel special. I booked the most expensive room available on the website with the hope that they'd throw in something like a few rose petals on the bed or like a fun towel folded into a heart. I had prebooked some strawberries and champagne for the room which weren't there when we arrived and I had to go down and chase them for these. When we were checking on they said flippantly 'you should have said ahead of time'... I was emailing about this 3 months ago about this. I also asked for a vase for our flowers, which I didn't think was a crazy request from a guest, but the response was again not rude but a bit like I was being unreasonable. Also after dinner me and my fiance went for a drink outside and a staff member came out and said 'ill charge the dinner to the room' after I had already paid for it in the restaurant. Not the special touches I was hoping for. Overall, I love this hotel it has so many special memories for me and I will have these forever, which is why I chose to stay here for my proposal, but I would say I am a bit disappointed with the service and hope that this feedback gets read as I think with such small changes it would have been more magical (literally something as small as putting the towels as a heart would have shown you cared)"

"The only problem we encountered with this hotel was that there wasn't a lift or secure place to leave our luggage. My husband and I are elderly and were on route to go on a cruise from Southampton so had two large heavy suitcases and there were no ground floor rooms available. The young lady on reception, however, was brilliant and took both cases to our room, not an easy feat! Really enjoyed our stay and will choose this hotel in the future."

"Broken glass on the driveway. Front door not locked and open, not sure if it can even be closed. Room door had clearly been broken into before. Beds and bedding poor quality. Dirty room dead flies and sugar on surfaces. Desk was broken and covered in cigarette burns. Loose electric wire on floor outside the bathroom. Not as per pictures on the website not even close. "

"We booked this hotel for its location and price, on arrival the staff were so friendly and welcoming, we extended our stay by 1 night, set in a lovely location. The night before we checked out we had already booked up to stay again for longer, this has now become our new hotel to stay in every time we come down to see family and friend. Excellent place 5 out of 5 all round. 👍👍"
