"Lovely old imposing hotel.only there for 1 night so did not really use all the amenities. Was in a great spot for the town .I asked for a room on the first floor near to the stairs because my wife struggles walking and they greatly obliged. Unfortunately we did not have nice weather but there is a lovely outside grass area at the front with tables and chairs .We had our dog with us so spent the evening in a lovely relaxing lounge bar and had something to eat .Had a good night's sleep and was really quite during the night .would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again ."

"A nice looking hotel but rough around the edges. Only 1 very small, incredibly slow, lift which doesnt cover all floors. This was impossible to use at busy times. The room was super hot, even with both windows open and radiator off. The fan didnt do much except alleviate the stuffiness. The spa was nice, but the lockers are stress inducing so you definitely need the spa experience to help you relax after fighting with them. The bathrooms were 100% designed by men haha I liked the free cookie when we checked in though."

"The room was lovely, nicely decorated and a comfy bed. We did turn up a few minutes early and was unable to enter the property because the codes didn’t become active till 3, made a call and someone did give us alternative codes to get in which was good. The rooms come with WiFi but no instructions on how to connect, again made a call and the person gave me a code for a network not even listed so we ended up without. No instructions on how to work the heating either, so as lovely as the room was it did get cold. On the whole a great location and a beautiful room."

"Beautiful hotel full of character and charm in a great location. The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and the breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. We really appreciated the lovely anniversary touches, including the swan towels, card, chocolate bar, and complimentary late check-out, which made our stay feel extra special. A couple of things could be improved. There is no hotel parking, and the local car park costs £16 for 24 hours. The rooms didn’t quite match the usual standard expected from the hotel. The pillows were quite lumpy, and the bathroom floor was sloped with very creaky floorboards, which made the room feel a little tired. Complimentary water in the room would also be a nice touch. Overall, it’s a lovely hotel with beautiful character features and lots of potential — it just needs a little freshening up in places."
