"A lot smaller than the photos led you to believe. The cottage is just at the left hand side of the white building in the picture and is not much wider than the first floor window. That being said the cottage is finished to a very high standard inside and the owners who live next door are very friendly and accommodating. The cottage is quite isolated and the walks from the door are not very well maintained so are very muddy. We actually gave up after half an hour and came back."

"Clean, 3 bathrooms a plus, quiet area, hot tub was excellent. Decorated nicely, beautiful kitchen with large fridge. If you plan to cook, helpful to know there are no seasonings. Wifi was good. TVs were great too. View of active lock, walkers, ducks, and swans was a definite highlight. "Breakfast is good. Plenty of choice. Sausages are very good. Poached eggs were spot on. Got enough beans. Bacon is ok. Not overly keen on giant field/Portobello mushroom. I prefer saute'd button mushrooms. DO NOT mess about with the bread toasters! They toast bang on if not fiddled with. Some of the younger serving staff need more training. They should know what the soup of the day is, people do ask. They need to know what is in the sauces with the meals and that if you order a steak, you need a steak knife and if you order soup, you need a soup spoon. They should check the water bottles and glasses for debris. The room and en suite were spotless, well laid out and comfortable. The reception staff are great, very helpful and know exactly what they are doing and what there is to do. The grounds all around the hotel are spectacular. The views from most rooms are uninterupted views across the lake and into the distant hills. There are some great walks locally. The shooting range is world class. The shooting lodge is really a nice log construction. Facilities and things to do at the hotel and around the area are great."

"Although there was building work taking place in the grounds of the hotel there was no disruption to the service or cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were so helpful when I had an issue with my car and got insisted for me. Thus was the first solo holiday for my after the sad passing of my sister, so it was a big challenge for me to go it alone but the staff didn’t make me feel the odd one out amongst couples and groups, in fact the made me feel so welcome. The food is absolutely wonderful, even with the new menu change over mid week, the food was tasty and it was hot I don’t mean just hot enough that you could eat it straight away but hot and every mouth full was delicious. I can’t say enough about the hotel the staff and the restaurant it was absolutely brilliant. I do intend visiting again in the hear future A big thank you and well done to each and every member of the team working there x"
