About this property
Secluded woodland cottage, close to SW Coast Path
Little Trembraze was built in 1840 as a mill workers’ cottage, and has been recently renovated. With its log burner and air source heating, it's wonderfully warm and cosy in the autumn and winter months. In the summer, it's been described as a tropical paradise, due to the profusion of colourful wild flowers, gunnera and banana trees(!) in the private garden. Perfect for walkers and wildlife watchers, it offers a get-away-from-it-all experience. It has its own entrance and parking area, and no other properties in sight. Just one mile from the sea and SW Coast Path, and 0.5 miles from the traditional Cornish village of St Keverne.
Wildlife This rural idyll is a haven for wildlife – you're likely to see fox, badger, stoat, rabbit, pheasant and deer from the cottage. You'll also see and hear many different species of birds, including song thrush, woodpecker, tawny and barn owls. From the beaches and coast path, look out for seals, basking sharks and dolphins. (Bring binoculars!)
Walking This part of the Lizard peninsula is criss-crossed with public footpaths and bridleways that go on for miles, and it's easy to plan circular routes. There are many places close by where you can join the SW Coast Path.
Local beauty spots The stunning Helford River, and Frenchman's Creek, full of yachts, sailing boats, Cornish fishers and cove boats, is just a few miles from Little Trembraze. Bordering this are many beautiful walks through National Trust land, including the historic Tremayne Quay. A few miles in the other direction you'll find the tiny valley of Poltesco, with the remains of the ancient serpentine stone works in the cove. Lizard Point, the UK's most southerly point and home to the rare Cornish chough (red-legged bird), is another few miles on.
Year-round appeal Little Trembraze is a wonderful place to stay at any time of the year. There is a wood chip area with a log seat on one side of the cottage, next to the wildflower garden. Plus a slate terrace in front of the cottage, with a huge piece of granite which we found inside(!) the cottage during renovation, now used as a seat. There's also a wooden table and chairs in this area. This enables you to catch the sun at different times of the day. For when the weather is not so great, we've made inside the cottage as cosy as possible. There's a really comfy Parker Knoll sofa, a log burner (we'll give you enough wood for your first fire, but you have to purchase thereafter), and air source heating upstairs and down. The latter is supremely efficient in terms of heat production and eco-friendliness.
The local village St Keverne is small, but has two pubs, a paper shop, post office and general store, a butcher's and a small but fantastic restaurant, The Greenhouse – booking essential! Fat Apples cafe, in nearby Porthallow and close to the beach, is a delightful wholefood cafe with vegan options, and outside seating. Gear Farm, in St Martin, 4 miles away, sells lots of lush local produce including game in season. The nearest town is Helston, 10 miles away. Falmouth is 18 miles away. There is a bus service.
Please be aware The bedroom can be set up with a kingsize bed, or two singles. We do not have wi fi or internet at Little Trembraze. There is scanty mobile reception if you are prepared to wander around a bit! Low beams in the bedroom and bathroom, and a narrow staircase, may be a problem for larger persons, or with physical disabilities. Please contact owners to discuss. There is no bath, only shower. No smoking. Sorry, no pets – we have dogs and horses. We do not take children. Check-in time is 3pm, check-out time 10am.

Lovely peaceful cottage. Very comfortable - set in a beautiful location. Great place to relax and explore the area.
The cottage absolutely delivered!
The cottage and the grounds are immaculately kept. If you're looking for an inviting base of operations for your time in west Cornwall, you'll be hard-pressed to find better.
The hosts are very accommodating and friendly, and some of our best evenings were spent just enjoying the silence after a long day of adventures.
We loved our stay in this cosy secluded cottage, and only wish we had booked few more days. So hoping we can return again soon. It was good location to explore nearby area in terms of the Lizard, Kyance cove etc. but also further afield to Penzance and Lands end. Thank you for lovely and welcoming stay.Best wishes Justin & Gwen
A beautiful, traditional Cornish cottage which has been sympathetically restored. Everything was provided for a relaxing and comfortable stay. We loved the peace and tranquility of the surroundings especially in the secluded woodland garden with so much wildlife and impressive plants to see. Thanks Deanne, we hope to return sometime.
We had an amazing few days here. The property was spotless and had everything you'd ever need. The location was beautiful and very peaceful, just what we were looking for. Our hosts were lovely and helped out with some local recommendations. The little village has all you need with some great pubs and very friendly people. We used it as a base to explore the Lizard and cycling/walking around the area. Couldn't recommend this place enough if you like to have peace and beauty on your doorstep
Overall the place was lovely. Has access to various places of interest. House was small as advertised, but perfectly ok for two people. A lovely fire upstairs and downstairs the bed was very comfortable.
Highly recommend for short or longer stays in any season.
This cottage is so lovely, secluded and peaceful, with no phone signal or data so you do feel completely off grid. Very clean and everything you need. Location is great. In the 4 days we were there we travelled round the west coast to St Ives and Falmouth too.
We had a lovely stay here. The cottage is clean, comfortable, cosy and has everything you need to get away from it all. The hosts were on hand and very helpful. The village of St Keverne has 2 good pubs, a butchers and a local Spar shop. However it is a bit of a treacherous walk up the very narrow country lanes especially at night! Lots of lovely coves and bays to explore nearby too.
The cottage is lovely, set in secluded woodland with fabulous vegetation typical of that part of Cornwall. It is small but has everything you need for a quiet holiday. All the appliances work well and the bed is very comfortable. It is so peaceful with only the horses for company! Deanne and her husband made us very welcome and were really helpful. Good places to eat locally are definitely The Greenhouse in St Keverne (book first)and Big Apples, a cafe that opens during the day only and is not far away. We will hopefully visit again.
peaceful ,idyllic cottage in the woods with it's own tropical garden and 2 horses in paddock as neighbours.
A truly wonderful relaxing setting with 2 pubs and shop in nearby st .Keverne.
We had a wonderful time and hope to return in future. Deanne (the host) lived approx 50yards away and was there if we needed her help or any information.
We had a great week at Little Trembraze. The cottage is very comfortable, atmospheric and it has been tastefully renovated. The garden is delightful. The location is in a beautiful, green and calm part of The Lizard. Access to all parts of the Lizard coastline is swift and unproblematic. Superb walking in the whole area. Walking into St. Keverne from the cottage is easy if one wants to leave the car behind for any reason! Deanne and John were great hosts. Foxgloves all along the lanes, buzzards in the sky, an occasional owl at night, choughs on the western cliffs. What's not to like!
We loved staying at Little Trembraze and thoroughly recommend the cottage. It’s set in a woodland garden, with the bonus of horses on site.
Located on a tranquil lane, in a tucked away corner of The Lizard, it’s within walking distance of St Keverne and the excellent Green House restaurant. Porthallow is a pretty and quiet cove nearby, ideal for swimming and kayaking.
The 1840 cottage is simple, but comfortable, well equipped and easy to live in. The woodburner and air source heating, along with the deep walls, make it snug and welcoming and the king size bed with linen bedding was much appreciated.
Deanne is a very helpful and knowledgeable host.
This cottage is quite beautiful. Situated in it’s own private little woodland we were surrounded by nature in all it’s infinite wonder.
It was a perfect base to explore The Lizard from and nice to know we had this cozy bolt hole to return to and relax in.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a secluded, private getaway.
Thank you Deanne.
My partner & I celebrated our 1y anniversary with a 5d stay at Little Trembraze. We had a great time hiking & sitting by the fire. Deanne & John were very helpful, especially when we'd locked ourselves out within 20min of arrival. Will come back. Thanks!
Absolutely fabulous location and a delightful cottage.
Lovely little cottage and very thoughtfully presented with everything you need for a break long or short. Close to St Keverne for shops and pubs. We had a delightful stay thanks to Deanne and John in this Cosy comfortable and warm cottage. All our friends love the photos we posted. We hope to be back there as soon as possible Great place and location!!
We had a lovely holiday at this cosy little cottage in peaceful surroundings. Cottage was well equipped and spotlessly clean with comfy furnishings. Great base for walking and nice log burner for cosy evenings. Near enough to a shop and eating places and owners were friendly and very helpful. Would recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful escape in good surroundings.
What a beautiful little place - we had a fantastic stay!
The pictures tell the truth - this place is secluded but has everything you need inside.
What the pictures cannot tell (and perhaps I was lucky?) is that every morning I would go out to the horses and the little one (Santini) would come running down the hill to say good morning - and expect to have his ears scratched ;-)
We aim to come back!
