"Pros: easy check-in process, nicely renovated 1912 building, very high ceilings, nice antiques in the rooms and common area, convenient walking distance to shops and restaurants (the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center is close by and definitely worth a visit!). Con: our room was the Judge’s Chamber on the second floor and it faced Main Street. The street was maybe 25’ from our window. Main Street is one lane each direction with parking on each side. The speed limit is maybe 25 mph. We were there on a Friday and Saturday and there was significant traffic noise from work trucks, groups of side-by-sides heading out on tours, Harley Davidson groups rumbling past, etc. It died down around 6:00 pm or so, but it was fairly constant through the day. Yes, we were gone much of the day doing our own sightseeing, but we were in the room enough to definitely notice it. Next time we’d ask for a room that was as far as possible from Main Street."

"We had a great stay! The location was excellent, and the hosts were very helpful and quick to respond whenever we had questions. The unit was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of towels and supplies. The kitchen was especially well equipped and had lots of thoughtful little extras that made it easy to prepare meals.There were just a few minor drawbacks. The showerhead had very poor water pressure, making it difficult and time-consuming to rinse shampoo out of my hair. The wall-mounted AC unit was a bit noisy, although it did keep the temperature comfortable. I was also surprised to find that the laundry facilities were coin-operated and located down the hall, as this wasn’t clear in the property description.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the hosts’ hospitality, the cleanliness, and the convenient location. With a few small improvements, this would be an even better place to stay!"

"The place was excellent. Great location. It was so clean!! Loved it. The only hiccup was that we didn't find out till 2 days before check in that there's no air conditioning. It absolutely wasn't a big deal because the weather was perfect but I do think that that information needs to be conveyed prominently for people who will be there in the hottest months.Thank you for a great stay!!"
