Warbrook House Heritage Hotel

Warbrook House Heritage Hotel

8/10 Good
"I really enjoyed our one night stay at the Warbrook. We were travelling as a family of 5 plus a small dog - we therefore had a total of three rooms, 2 in the old house and one in the Grange which is about 200m away from the old house. All rooms were clean and appeared recently decorated / renovated. I was really impressed with the rooms. The bed was comfortable (a little soft to my personal taste) and the bathrooms were great with rain showers. Rooms had all the facilities one would expect - tea/coffee facilities, iron & board, hair dryer etc... The only negative I would say and this was only evident during a heatwave, was there were no airconditioning in the rooms. There were however, very capable tower fans which aided a good nights sleep - even though they were a little noisy. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful (Sonya) and the staff at breakfast were also efficient and friendly. Breakfast was really good - the sausages and the scrambled eggs are worthy of special mention. The grounds and setting are really worth half an hour to explore. I recommend walking around the lake in the early morning - I saw plenty of dear and birdlife and it opens up a spectacular vista of the old house. when we arrived, there was a wedding taking place in a part of the grounds - that said, it didn't interfere with our stay at all and no noise could be heard from our rooms. I feel that a real effort is being made by this hotel and I applaud their efforts. I would stay again."

The Elvetham Hotel

The Elvetham Hotel

8/10 Good
"This is a beautiful hotel which looks like an old stately home with extensive gardens and grounds. Car parking was ideal (free) and reception staff were attentive and helpful. I had breakfast twice and the buffet style hot food was plentiful, hot and tasty. Very good selection of cold foods including fruit, yogurt, cereal and pastries etc. I ate twice in the restaurant and each night I had the rack of lamb which was delicious. Staff in the restaurant were very good. I did think that perhaps one or two more staff could have been serving at the bar as there was a large group celebrating an event on one of the nights I stayed. I waited for sometime at the bar to be served however decided not to wait any longer as the wait was too long. They appeared to be all ordering cocktails which individually took sometime to create. My room was clean and spacious. I appreciated the standing fan as my room did not have air conditioning. There are no lifts in the property due to the age of the house however a reception staff member very kindly offered, without me asking, to carry my small suitcase to my room, up a few flights of stairs. I would stay in this hotel again. Thank you for a lovely stay xx"
