"I wish I could give a better overall review of the property, for it has great potential! If it weren't for the inability to check in, I'd rate it even higher. Though I believe in giving fair and honest reviews, without just complaining.The Good: The property outside is lovely and is right on the lake! Couldn't ask for a better location. They allow pets which is also great!I had been in communication on VRBO several times leading up to the stay with general questions. I'd talked to them 2 days before arrival. Then I'd even let them know that I was 20min out before arriving, just so we could avoid any issues and infer about the check in process. Received no reply.The Bad: Got to the property at 6:15pm (over 2hrs past check-in) and there was no one there to check me in. I called the contact that was given on VRBO and it was not the host, but a neighbor who helps with the property. She walked over and showed me to my room which had not yet been cleaned from the last person who had stayed. She then went and found the host by the water for me. I was offered another option, but when he opened that room, it was already (unknowingly) occupied . He asked if I could come back in less than an hour and he'd clean it. At first, standing in the dirty room with the smell of mildew, I was apprehensive, though said yes.Having already traveled 4 hours with my wife, young daughter, and old dog...we came back an hour later to check in at 7:15pm. We stayed our 4 nights and I give 4 stars."
