"We loved staying at The Carter House. The staff provided first class service. The breakfast and dinner in their restaurant was top chef quality. Their wine collection is massive noted by Wine Spectator. They take service and guest satisfaction very seriously. We didn’t get a room upgrade but that could be because we had our larger dog with us. They are very dog friendly. "

"There isn't a great amount to do in this historical locale, but a short drive puts you in the redwoods or to some dining options. The grocery store across the street makes great fresh sandwiches. The rooms are unique, quiet, and well appointed. There was a very nice sitting area just outside the door of our room. The staff persons were all nice, accommodating, we enjoyed our arrival refreshment. If you want to stay in a peaceful, historic building, this lodge woorks well."
