small, but charming property. On abernake lake which was quite shallow, as the owners advised us. Scene is beautiful, but shortly nearby is a car bridge which did affect the sense of tranquility. The accomodations were lovely and the cabin came very well appointed and stocked.
This was an exceptionally clean and well supplied cabin with everything you could need. Very comfortable and great location for outdoor activities. We hope to return again!
I highly recommend staying at this quiet lakeside house. House and grounds where immaculately clean. Neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. Check in and check out process was a breeze. Access to the row boat and kayaks really made our stay. We spent many hours on the water relaxing and fishing. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking to disconnect from the hectic world and truly relax.
Loved our stay at this Adirondack cabin! Clean and had a home like feel. Enjoyed sunsets by the lakeside fireplace. Kayaked daily and loved watching the loon family on the lake sitting in the Adirondack chairs. Highly recommend, will visit again!
Quiet, comfortable and well stocked camp on a non-busy street across from water access. We paddled the area lakes, hiked some mountains and generally relaxed. The county store in Indian Lake is fun to export and the Indian Lake Restaurant had very good food. The 7-Eleven and the One-Stop gas and convenience stores had some basics, but as noted in the write up you must bring in most groceries from elsewhere.
Comfortable and clean, with everything you could possibly need. Everything was so well laid out it made for an easy enjoyable experience. Absolutely lovely!
On a shallow part of the lake, there are weeds off the dock which makes swimming there less than ideal, though possible. The public beach requires a drive to get to. The lake has a lot of beautiful loons and we enjoyed kayaking the lake. There are many hikes and siteseeing nearby. Room for improvement: the beds and couch are old and not comfortable. But overall, we enjoyed our stay.
What a wonderful weekend we had at Lake Abanakee! The cottage was so beautifully decorated and maintained ---it was a real pleasure. We did some kayaking on the double kayak provided across the lake and under the Big Brook Rd Bridge to see the Falcon nesting atop one of the telephone poles at the lakes edge. We saw wonderful wildlife daily in the yard and on the lake. Loon viewing was a daily occurance on our end of the lake as well as a family of ducks that pulled up onto the property to rest. Seated on the front porch we viewed hummingbirds and song birds. My favorite activity was sitting on the dock and watching the sun set.
The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare dinner each evening. We came prepared with all of our groceries and meal preparations to have a quiet weekend.
I was able to get some biking in as well down to the Indian Lake Marina area and also up to the entrance to Chimney Mountain, a good workout. You can tell that this cottage is well loved and cared for! Thank you for a wonderful stay
Cute, clean, great location & perfectly thought out describes this cabin!! We were surprised to learn after reserving this cabin it is not lake front but still very happy that even though we had to cross the quiet street to get to the lake, it is easily accessible. We look forward to returning next year!
