My private room was clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only con is if you have "sweet blood" like me you will get eaten alive. BRING MOSQUITO/BUG REPELLENT!!! I didnt bring any. The hotel is situated in lots of vegetation so mosquitoes are crazy. Its also very easy to catch a cab or the bus directly in front of the hotel. Food was fresh and delicious for both breakfast and lunch.

The staff is is fantastic but very slow and forget to bring what you asked for but very friendly. Samara restaurant is a nice place but as for the maki roll…no bueno, dry and not a fresh rice. The wok noodles meal were really good tho. 30’minutes walk to punta sur. The DJ is really good, to me it was the best part of it, really good music and chill. The beach…. Nice but can’t swim…unless you want to swim, not deep enough. Tuna tostadas are the best. No ambiance after 8:30 at night, like nada…. I don’t regret my choice but would not go back to stay there. Great sunset spot. Don’t take the breakfast options. 4 of my 5 breakfast were out of food I was told so I received 2 eggs in my plate, nothing else, sad plate and to get a third one I had to pay ….wt….. so no bueno. Get mosquito repellent, a lot

Magical Stay

We had an absolutely magical stay at Mayan Monkey. They staff were amazing, the food and drinks were fantastic and the room was spacious and comfortable. Definitely the more chilled place on the island. Perfect for chilling on a sun bed and enjoying some cocktails and tacos.

We stayed in the private room with the bath tub and we were blown away! The room was great, and the view was beautiful as we looked out into the jungle. The only downside is that our shower never really got hot, I’d definitely stay here again.

Love the secluded vibe. My wife and I stayed the the jungle room and it was worth it! We were able to get all the food from the island delivered to us through isladelivery website but I would say the only down side is that it’s not walkable to the north side. I loved the Areia beach club.

The property was beautiful, the beach was nice. The staff was beyond excellent, so helpful and accommodating!!! The tuna tartar was excellent and the seafood lobster yummy!!! We included breakfast and was satisfied also!!! We stayed March 26 to April 1 2025 definitely not long enough. Can't wait to go back !!!!!!

Nice property with very friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Lots of great activities on the property - yoga, sushi-making, mixology class, water color painting etc. (the teachers do it voluntarily so make sure to tip). Only note - if you get a beachfront room be prepared for loud bar music with nightclub beat until late into the night/morning.

Beautiful property with its own beach. This is a 5 star place to stay as long as you can put up with the music at night. Every night. Until midnight. Bartenders were great and so was the breakfast we ate here. Also had the margarita pizza late one night and it was delicious!
