"Picture it. Jackson, Mississippi. 2026. 4:00 in the morning just getting off the road from St. Louis. We check in at the hotel after getting confirmation several times that the arrival time wouldn't matter, get the key, go up the elevator and get ready to open the door because we think we're about to go to sleep for a few hours before we have to get dressed to go to a graduation. We use the key the lady at the front desk gave us, opened the door and at first it looks uncleaned like someone left their stuff in the room and the staff didn't do anything but as we're standing in the entry way, we we hear someone with a froggy voice say, “Who is this? What are you doing?!” We look at each other, close the door, and the person comes to the door. We apologize and tell them that the front desk lady gave us a key to that room. We get back on the elevator and head to the front desk. The girl says she doesn’t know why someone was in the room and that she can’t get a manager. Instead of apoloogizing, she then proceeds to call the people in the room to ask when they got there. We tell her to hang up because that doesn’t matter, we walked into a room with people in it and that could have gone sideways.
She says there is a room with no TV we could use and suddenly remembers that is why she gave away our room to the people she called to ask why they were in there. Still no apology. We ask to speak with a manager. She said they're not available. The Colonel and The Educator, my aunt and husb"
