"Room was ideal for what we wanted. Close enough to center with free parking available. Restaurants and supermarkets walkable. Easy check in and out. Good value for what we got. Good budget option. Only negative was room could be cleaner in places but to be expected so not to bothered. Very happy overall"

"Lovely, mid-century style, renovated abbey in charming old centre area of Angouleme. While the hotel is a short 15-minute walk from the train station, we arrived late at night and were advised to advance book a taxi to ensure we had transportation to the hotel. Room was spacious, immaculate, bed comfortable, and well supplied with coffee, tea, and a minibar with wines, juices, and a few snacks. Staff were friendly and spoke perfect English, making it unnecessary for us to butcher the beautiful French language 😉. Our breakfast was delightful with local breads, cheeses, and a nice selection of meats, eggs, juices, and coffees/tea. We will gladly return during our next stop in Angouleme. We highly recommend the Hotel Le Saint Gelais as the best option for a stay hotel in Angouleme."
