Poolside Cottage 57 - Magnolia Cottage

Located poolside in The Cottages at Jekyll Island oceanfront community. 3 bedrooms 3.5 bath two-story townhome style beach cottage. Open concept floor plan with single car garage. Kitchen entry with stainless appliances, both a Keurig and a standard coffee maker, kitchen island and bar top for extra seating and dining. Living area with gas log fireplace and SLEEPER SOFA. Master suite (KING), and half bath all on the first floor. The living area opens to a screened porch. Fenced back yard with paver patio complete with gas grill. The second floor has 2 guest (QUEEN) bedroom suites each with private baths and private access to a large upper balcony with ocean views.
In addition, guests have access to The Cottages at Jekyll Island million dollar oceanfront amenities, which include Clubhouse with Billiard Table, Fitness Room, zero entry pool, beach deck, beach access and a community fire pit.

Single Car garage 3 parking spaces including garage - No trailers of any kind allowed.

If our no pet or no smoking policy is broken, a $1000 fine will be charged AND you will be asked to vacate the property without a refund.

THE COTTAGES BEACH ACCESS:
The Cottages beach is approximately 2000 linear feet and has a dune area and seawall that runs the length of the Cottages oceanfront property. There are 3 dune crossovers to the sand area landside of the seawall that are always accessible, and that area can be used for recreational purposes. The access to the beach over the seawall is centrally located at the pool & clubhouse. At high tide, the water is at the seawall. The tides change every 6 hours from low to high tide. A tide chart will help you plan your beach time. The nearest beach park with ocean access all day is Oceanview Beach Park, appx 2 miles south just past the Holiday Inn. You may view all Jekyll Beaches by visiting the Jekyll Island website under the Beaches tab.

Beautiful spacious condo. Close walk to beach and pool. Only negative was fruit flies and it would have been nice if beach towels were provided.

Beautiful condo but kitchen supplies could be better!

Host could provide more kitchen supplies...found it to be sparse. There were no oven mits, very little dish soap, not enough apple cider vinegar for the fruit fly/bug problem (I left a bottle for the next guest), hardly any serving bowls, only one extra trash bag when you need to take the trash out daily due to bug problem. These detract from the beauty of the condo and surroundings.

Family Vacatiom

We loved our stay! The townhouse was spacious and well stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing weekend. The beach chairs and wagon made packing much easier and the games and puzzle were a welcomed surprise. The location of the townhome was ideal. We loved that so many points of interest were within easy biking distance. The community was quiet and the pool was a hit with everyone. We hope to revisit in the future!

Mothers Day Weekend

I loved the location! The only reason I gave 4 stars for check-in was because our code did not work to get inside! We had to call and wait for someone to come. As I sat in the front porch chair waiting, I fell through the chair! I believe it was made to look like it was a workable chair when indeed it wasn’t not. We laughed about it later! Anyway, they too seemed surprised that our code did not work. It was resolved. All was happy and fine thereafter!

Nice Place

This place and the entire island is beautiful! The pool was great as well. The only thing I could think of that could be improved on is the house only had a starter set of towels, so extra sets would have been nice, but we just had to do a little more laundry. We will certainly be back sometime.

Great location!

We had a group of 7 and had plenty of room. The cottage was very clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were also very comfortable. The location was great! In the morning there was almost no one on the beach. During high tide we went to a public beach so the kids could do all the “beachy” things, but it is just a short distance away. Overall, we had a great time!

Fruit Flies

The cottage is lovely and accommodated our group very well. Our complaint is the infestation of fruit flies. We understand that this is their season, but we consulted with a neighbour at The Cottages and he said that infestation of the flies can be greatly minimized. We were not given any such instructions or forewarning by VRBO or the property managers. The flies were so bad that we had to eat out almost every meal as they drowned in our beverages and swarmed around the kitchen. It was very unpleasant and we had not budgeted for the added expense of dining out so often. Except for the COVID years, my husband and I have visited Jekyll Island every year since 2009 and have never had such a problem. We always stayed at The Villas by the Sea.

Beautiful home

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The only issue we had was an abundance of fruit flies. They were annoying and gross but the property management tried to provide us with some relief. I’d say that was the only downside. Other than that, the townhome is spacious and beautifully decorated. It’s also very convenient to the pool area.

Great on paper but…

We were very excited to stay here with our kids for Spring Break. The location was great (loved the community amenities) and aesthetics were nice, however, the house had a massive infestation of fruit flies. The prescribed remedy, per the house information binder, was to leave small bowls of apple cider vinegar throughout the house. However, this seemed to have zero impact on the infestation. We found them in the refrigerator, bathrooms, in our coffee cups and even in dresser drawers. They never subsided or went away, despite going through an entire bottle of vinegar. It was a very frustrating experience and by the end of the trip definitely impacted our stay. I would strongly encourage the owners to find a professional treatment to deal with this problem. Separately, we always bring our own Swiffer to be able to keep the house tidy during our stay. When we first arrived, I could tell the floors hadn’t been thoroughly cleaned and after one pass of the Swiffer, it turned up black with dirt. And, when we attempted to use the oven, it flamed up (obviously hadn’t been cleaned in some time) and thus we could not use it for our stay. Lastly, the beds were comfortable, but the bedding could use an upgrade (there was a stain on one of the comforters). Beyond that, the house was great. Not trying to find faults, but I believe in being candid. Hope this helps!

Nice place but too many fruitflies

The unit was very nice and the location was great but the unit was full of fruit flies which ruined the experience for us. The pesky flies were in every room and most annoying to be around as they flew around us constantly and got into all food and drinks. We complained to the manager who seemed unconcerned and basically said they are everywhere and advised us to put out bowls of vinegar and detergent in all the rooms. We did this but it didn’t make much difference. We tried to spend as much time as possible outside of the unit. There must be a better solution to this problem and management should try harder to find one but we won’t be returning.

Christmas Vacation

The house was exactly as pictured! Would definitely stay here again. Leasing company was great and were readily available if you needed anything. Clubhouse was also extremely clean. Great place to watch tv or play pool. Best Vrbo I have ever stayed at!!

Jekyll Island get away

Great place, just as advertised. Nice clubhouse, small fitness center could use a little more equipment, great pool and ability to take stairs down to the beach at low tide. Tad at the management company was extremely responsive (great customer service) and available if needed. Very good location and would highly recommend. Will stay there next year.

Something for everyone

The property was beautifully decorated. Convenient to the beach and pool. It had something for everyone, beach, pool, weight room, pool table and lots of walking trails. The condo was cool and had a relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen had basic cooking pots etc. loved the location and area- would definitely rent again.

Fantastic-Highly Recommend!!!

Honestly this was even better than we hoped! The place was bigger, nicer, and more conveniently located than we expected. Easy to get to; a one minute walk to the pool and 2 minute walk to the beach. Looking forward to our next stay!
