This was my retreat experience and was delighted by the place. I see that EXPEDIA rates it at 3 1/2 star but would consider this place much higher. The place is very new and decorated in a calm, simple but yet stylish way. The setting on the side of the mountain offers stunning views and the sound of the forest is so peaceful. I loved this private property and the owners of the property Lazara & Alex. We rented the deluxe bungalow. It was such a BEAUTIFUL view of the mountains, the pool was so relaxing and it was awesome to enjoy 24hr access to the pool and go night swimming. Just stayed here one night before flight out next morning. Seems pleasant, wish we could have enjoyed the pool. Had dinner and breakfast . Dinner was good, a little pricier than we found at most other restaurants in CR. Breakfast was included, few selections of some meats, scrambled eggs, fruit, toast and juices and coffee and teas.

The grounds are beautiful with different types of fruit trees, lovely veranda to enjoy the view of the mountains. We especially love the sisters who run the place. They are quite attentive, making sure we were comfortable. We definitely would recommend this lovely bed&breakfast

I stumbled upon Chayote Lodge during my search of hotels in Costa Rica. Our 1st time in Costa Rica for a family wedding. Stayed here because it was only 20 minutes from the Int’l Airport after a long day of travel and another day of driving ahead. Margarita is an excellent hostess/owner who was very helpful and kind. Her property is “boho-chique” with rescue dogs that act as ambassadors and chickens that lay eggs for guests to dine on at breakfast; which was excellent, fresh and included with the stay. I was a little worried during the taxi ride to the hotel that I had made a terrible mistake in picking the hotel as some of the areas look a little rough (by American standards), however, once at the gated hotel I realized that I indeed had made a good choice when choosing the location as the property is incredibly calming and beautiful. Just know that since you are out of the city you will need to use Uber eat or a taxi to get food as there is no onsite restaurant.

Great experience ! Dave ,Marsha, Elezar and the staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable ,and everything was taken care of. They arranged a tour,massage, taxi service, meal delivery, and were always there with any questions I had. Fresh breakfasts using local ingredients were delicious. Nice hotel with all the amenities and close to the airport. Has a variety of restaurants nearby that are walkable. Will stay there again.

We had a wonderful Christmas week at Canal Grande Lodge! Raffael and his staff were excellent hosts who made sure we had everything we needed. The small hotel was quiet and beautifully situated. You could walk to restaurants and a few small local stores. We enjoyed Santa Margaritas down the street on 2 nights of our stay. This wonderful property has amazing views and plenty of activities to enjoy from waterfalls to the farm where they grow their food as well as multiple pools with beautiful views and personal villas that provide privacy and comfort! All of the staff members were extremely pleasant and very helpful with booking spa experiences as well as helping with anything you wanted or needed outside of the resort.
