"No codes provided to access the room beforehand. Shower Impossible to adjust from cold to scalding hot. No bedside lamp. Floor not cleaned. Hasty conversion of a traditional Brussels home by freelance contractor. Shame because very good location in relation to EU institutions. Unfortunately an EU summit subjected us to helicopter patrols which made it hard to get some sleep."

Unfair overall rating

"I stayed at Thon for the first time after staying at a number of different hotels near Brussels Airport. I was originally put off by the overall rating but I’m very glad I read the negative reviews and booked anyway. In my experience (on check-in and check-out) the staff were friendly and professional. If you are looking for an airport shuttle then this hotel doesn’t provide that (as far as I’m aware). There is public transport The room I stayed in was very clean, the bed was really comfy and there was a new smart TV with Netflix and YouTube. In my experience these things are not as standard in most hotels near the airport. I would definitely stay again"

"The staff at reception were warm and friendly. Our room was spotless. It was the perfect spot to stay over prior to an early morning flight the next day. We took the train from Brussels Midi Station and were able to walk to the hotel from the station. There were several choices for dinner nearby including the hotel restaurant. We opted for sushi just a few doors away. It was terrific. We caught the local bus to the airport early in the morning. Tapped our credit cards and arrived within 15 minutes. Great experience all round! "
