"While the front desk staff were courteous, our overall experience was very disappointing.
Upon entering the room, we were met with a strong, persistent odor embedded in the carpeting, consistent with years of heavy use and poor ventilation. The smell was severe enough that we chose not to stay a single night after check-in.
We returned to the front desk immediately. Staff acknowledged the issue and initially indicated a refund was possible. However, after “checking with management,” (they were the manager) we were told we would still be charged for one night. We agreed, simply to leave.
The refund process since then has been unnecessarily complicated. We were asked to complete multiple forms, provide copies of our credit card and ID, and repeatedly supply banking details, including a SWIFT/BIC code, despite having paid by credit card. Our bank confirmed that a refund should be issued directly to the original card, without additional information.
We have now spent days going back and forth with the accounting contact, who continues to request bank details instead of processing the refund. The issue remains unresolved.
In sum, while staff were polite, they are constrained by rigid policies. The room condition and refund handling were unacceptable."
