I want to personally thank you Chris for making our stay feel welcoming. The pictures are exactly what you would expect when you arrive. The place is clean and feels like home. All the amenities were so helpful especially for 2 crazy adults and 3 teenage girls. Note: the condo is on the second floor of the building.
If you arrive to Kahului Airport before Costco closes, definitely recommend doing the groceries for your stay. You will save a lot of money eating out and you can actually use the saving towards fun tours and activities and shopping. We saved a lot of weight from our luggage since the condo had a washing machine & dryer; there was no need to bring multiple outfits.
Definitely book a car if you want to enjoy your time and plan your own fun filled activities. On the Road to Hana, we saw breathtaking waterfalls, the Black Sand Beach (phenomenal), and the Bamboo Forest (hiking). On a separate day, we drove to Ho'okipa Beach and saw about 10 humongous sea turtles at shore. Our family also snorkeled at Makena Beach, while it was relatively crowdless, and spotted & swam with 2 sea turtles. We shopped in Lahaina Banyan court; it had a plethora of clothing, jewelry, and general shops along with gelato and shaved ice bars. It’s a boardwalk on the beach and the views were spectacular. At the end of the day, the ultimate relaxation destination would be the nearby JACUZZI at Maui Kamaole (the place we stayed).
Some really helpful tips: For snorkeling, we highly recommend safe shoes in the water; there were a lot of sea urchins. Begin Road to Hana early so you can enjoy things before sunset. It is difficult to drive pitch dark. Watch YouTube vlogs to learn more of Maui’s sights. Take advantage of the swimming pool. Wear sunscreen. Wear bug repellant and proper clothes for hiking, the places tend to be moist, muddy, and uphill.
Lastly, tourists must try shaved ice at Beach Street and Miso Phat (sushi) in Kihei. The shaved ice is particularly special because it has a scoop of ice cream inside. If you are headed to Lahaina, try the Noodle Bar for authentic Vietnamese food.
Until next time,
Mahalo!
