"Corte San Pietro is the most beautiful place to stay. The staff is like family, very friendly and welcoming with everyone. Even the owners are around to welcome you. The rooms are fabulous! I was lucky enough to stay in room 7 and it was located just up from the reception and the bed was a climb of steps up, but I slept so well. The breakfast is the best I’ve seen following 3 weeks in Italy. I was greeted by the most lovely woman with all kinds of fruits, cakes, toasts with tomatoes, water, orange juice and she got me cappuccino anytime I asked. Oh and did I mention the piano player? It was in a sassi and I only missed my boyfriend, as I was solo traveling here. Centrally located and I found some great spots close by for cocktails and dinner. I’ll definitely return one day with someone special. And there is a fabulous spa advertising in the room!! OMG- just do it. "

"Beautiful and immaculate setting, we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in this carefully restored farm estate. Breakfast was delicious, enjoyed in the lovely courtyard. Staff were welcoming and helpful in recommending good restaurants close by. Unfortunately it was too cool to enjoy the gorgeous pool. Only a 5 minute drive to the historic part of Matera. "

"Hotel first: Basiiani Hotel is a marvel in a town once called the 'Shame of Italy'. It is a hotel that is comprised of several rooms carved into caves that used to be people's homes. It is awesome. The decor, beds, bathroom and amenities all top notch. The staff friendly and the buffet breakfast was great. Highly recommended. Now the town of Matera.... you must go. Truly out of this world and worth every adjective of beauty."

"Fantastic place to stay! Great price! Beautiful view! Amazing Room & staff especially Mario , fantastic personality, helpful , who greeted us at the top of the stairs where the taxi dropped us off & carried our luggage down 80 steps to our room. Breakfast offered was so good with fresh bakery goods and yummy cappuccino. Come to this hotel, it is next door to the sextantio where our friends stayed and struggled with lighting in their rooms. Say hi to Mario!"
