San Juan, La Union, is a special, up and coming resort area in the Philippines. Much more developed than Zambales, but much less developed than Boracay. Costa Villa is a nice place, but it's a longish walk from the "main beach area" of San Juan--this would be a bonus for some, but a negative for others. Hotel is run by a very nice family and the hotel grounds are clean (even the beach is, sadly, quite littered).
