Woodsy Retreat with Hot Tub | Dogs Welcome | On River Time
Kick back at On River Time, a classic log cabin set right on the North Fork of the New River. You're just 10 minutes outside of the towns of West Jefferson and Lansing, putting you at the center of the action. Or, if you prefer relaxation, this cabin has everything you need for a restful mountain vacation. As Goldilocks says, On River Time is “just right.” -------------------------------------------- Indoor Spaces: - Sleeping arrangements: The main floor hosts the primary bedroom, complete with a king bed. An upstairs loft is home to the second bedroom with two twin beds, while the lower level of the cabin has a queen-size sofa bed. - Main level: On River Time combines old-school log cabin charm with contemporary amenities. The front door leads straight into the cozy living room with cushioned seating, a fireplace, and a TV. Your kitchen is just steps away, creating an open and airy living space where friends and family can gather to laugh and eat. - Upper level: The upper level is a small loft with one bedroom and a reading nook. - Lower level: Downstairs is a second family room with another TV (great for spreading out if you can't decide on a movie!). The lower level leads to an outdoor patio with a hot tub. - On River Time comes with WiFi, AC, satellite TV, and Netflix. - All Stay Blue Ridge vacation rentals include a complimentary starter pack with soaps, one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels in the kitchen, dishwasher pods, and trash bags. -------------------------------------------- Outdoor Spaces: - An upper deck and lower covered patio give you the space you need to enjoy the outdoors together. Keep your eye out for wildlife, like deer and wild turkeys. Sharp-eyed guests might even spot a blue heron or an otter. - The decks lead out to a wooden walkway that ends at an outdoor firepit. Don't forget the s'mores on your way out the door! - Stone steps lead into the river, making it easy to dip your toes in or go for a swim. Bring your tubes, canoes, kayaks, and fishing gear—you're gonna need them. - A fenced-in yard is perfect for your furry friends. -------------------------------------------- Local Surroundings: - On River Time is just over 10 minutes from the town of Lansing. Stop by Molley Chomper Hard Cider for some tart and tangy brews before heading to the Liar's Bench for a tasty sandwich. Take a walk on the Lansing Creeper Park Trail before exploring the galleries and shops the town has to offer. The NC Heritage Trout Waters run through here, so bring your flyfishing gear. For cycling and mountain biking enthusiasts, this park also features a three-mile single track trail with a 1,700ft. elevation change. - In West Jefferson, you have even more dining and brewery options. Some of our favorites include Red Dog Bar & Bistro, Craft Bistro in the Old Artists' Theatre, and Thong Summit Thai & Sushi, but the town truly has something for everyone's tastes. If you're visiting in the warmer months, check out the Backstreet concert series. - Your cabin is just 30 minutes away from Grayson Highlands State Park, home to hundreds of miles of trails and wild miniature ponies. A little further out are the Pond Mountain game lands, a great place for sightseeing and scenic driving. -------------------------------------------- Important Notes: - Pet Policy: Spot can come, too! On River Time allows up to two dogs. Must be leash and crate trained, two years or older, and 45lbs or less. $50 per pet, nonrefundable. - Access: The roads and driveway leading to On River Time can get icy in the winter, so drive carefully. We recommend 4WD or AWD. -------------------------------------------- Why Stay Blue Ridge? Looking for your perfect mountain getaway? You're in the right place.

The cabin was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed. The fenced-in yard and outdoor spaces were perfect. Our dogs enjoyed it as much as we did! We will definitely stay here again!
This is my second time staying at this property and it is just perfect for a relaxing getaway weekend. With great proximity to local establishments, it was the perfect spot for being able to relax with little excursions into town mixed in. I booked this property a second time because my dog absolutely loves the large, fenced in backyard and access to the river. Perfect spot for a getaway where you want to be surrounded by nature and take in all the fresh mountain air.
I had a beautiful, 10 night stay at this lovely mountain location. The place was beyond comfortable, with the amenities looked after in a largely excellent way. We wanted for nothing. A full kitchen, stocked with every essential cooking implement and then some (and I’m picky about that sort of thing), and more than enough room for multiple guests. Despite a really rustic feel outside, which we loved, the inside was totally temperature controlled, with some extra pizazz thrown in there in the form of a faux fireplace that doubled as a small heater. Management generally responded within a day of being contracted through the app - important to note that they recommended calling for more immediate responses - the only issue with that being that I had no cell reception in the cabin itself (AT&T). When reached, management was exceedingly considerate and wonderful to interact with. There was a very small inaccuracy in the listing concerning the locks on the doors, but nothing insurmountable, and I did get the feeling that such inconsistencies are not the norm for this company. Thanks for an amazing stay!
If you have younger children and a dog then this is the place for you. The fenced in yard allowed us to let our children and dog roam freely while we relaxed in the hot tub or in the chairs by the fire. During the day we were able to swing open the back gate and spend time in the river. My son and husband enjoyed catching and releasing carwdads. They even caught a couple of fish. The water level was low during our visit so the kids and I were easily able to walk up and down stream to look at the beautiful river rocks lining the bottom of the river.
We did not spend much time inside but it has everything you might need. There is a nice King bedroom on the middle level with a full bath, living area and kitchen. The stairs go up to a small loft area with a seating space and 2 twin beds. The lower level is equipped with a sofa bed, full bath and laundry area.
We only had one issue during our stay with the grass cutter who showed up at 6:30pm while we were sitting around the fire. We reported it to the property manager and the neighbor, who witnessed the interaction, also plans to talk to the homeowner. Other than that incident, our stay was prefect.
A beautiful setting on the New River, On River Time was the perfect base for a weekend spent hiking. We enjoyed the hot tub, porch overlooking the river, and making dinner in the kitchen.
Awesome quite clean and spacious! Hot tub was a nice add on! Being in river time really helps reset. Recommend for anyone looking for a nice getaway where they don’t have to worry about a thing!
It was a great stay. We were saddened, of course by the devastation from the floods, but the house itself was beautiful, and the yard was cleaned up. Wonderful stay
Wonderful cabin for the perfect quiet, peaceful getaway! Steps from the river provided easy access to the water and such a fun time for my water loving pup!
Lovely Upper Back Porch, however 3/4 of the view of the River was taken up by Tree Limbs. The Grass needed to be cut from the house down to the River. The Bed Linens need to be updated, the Master Bed only had a very thin Quilt, The down stairs that is advertised a a day bed that folds out into a King Sofa, only had 1-Twin Cover Sheet and No Bed Quilt or Bedspread.. No TV in Master Bedroom.Fold out Dining Table only that might fit 4 people on small Metal Barstools.
Overall it was a nice cabin, my only issues were that from the photos it looks like a fenced in yard which is why I booked this cabin so my dog could be outside off leash, the area is still recovering from storm damage so I understood. My other complaint is the smell of the water l contacted them and someone came out to change a filter and he said that one had never been installed so there was nothing he could do. Anytime we would shower or wash dishes it smelled like eggs
We really enjoyed our stay here. House was very cozy and equipped with everything we needed. We had issues with the hot tub but they sent someone out immediately. Would highly recommend this place!
Our group loved our stay @ Kapena Escape…(escape is property named):). After a hiccup on our part getting through gate on the first night, we opened the door to a beautiful knotty pine family space w/ a fireplace & well stocked kitchen w/ all the cooking utensils. The outdoor hot tub bellowed for use!! Three very spacious suites on each floor gave privacy & sooo much comfort..
We loved it & were blessed to attend a family wedding @ Twickingham. Kapena was centrally located. Hope to rent again. Thank you

Loved the cabin, loved the location. Did not sleep 6 as listed. Downstairs sofa bed was broke.
"On River Time" is a great place to stay, right on the N. Fork of the New River. The house is well-equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was spotless and nicely decorated.
Nice place. We used as a home base to float the New River and bike the Creeper Trail.
