Door on upper floor bathroom wouldn't close - too tight a fit so couldn't be locked - no privacy. Difficulty shutting and locking rear french windows didn't feel very secure. TV remote didn't work. "The pool was cold and sauna wasnt working. These were two of the main reasons we booked the stay. I rang before booking to ensure a pet friendly property was available and no one mentioned this. The accomodation was very basic with a really hard bed in the master. The kettle leaked from the base, there was broken glass underneath my son’s bed and one of the seats of the sofa was collapsed. "A beautiful setting with everything you could possibly need. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, clean room with good amenities. I also had a stunning beach view. Nothing was too much trouble. They even catered for my Gluten sensitivity. The food at Breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious. My massage was heavenly also. The only think I didn’t like was the fact I had to leave such a wonderful place! "

"This was our second stay at the Sawmills, the staff , the room and the service continue to be excellent. We will continue to stay at the Sawmills when next return to North Devon for its location and for its value for money. Only criticism would be to offer a non cooked breakfast such as porridge or cereal plus orange juice , evening meals could be improved to offer fresh season vegetables rather than chips. A most enjoyable stay."

"Lovely hot bath ideal after walking coastal path. In the centre of the town with all amenities, plus coast path and cliff railway. Very good value. Basic but clean and comfortable with everything you need in the room. Excellent service from Rachel at Reception who was friendly and helpful and recommended a brilliant place to eat."

The Dilkhusa Grand Hotel By Compass Hospitality

"Entering the warm friendly reception area, you are greeted with smiles and laughter, and the staff are so friendly and chatty, making check in a breeze. The bedroom was spacious and clean, and the shower was large and had good water pressure. Evening dinner was delicious it was a 3-course meal – Fish Goujons for starter and Chicken and dauphinoise potatoes for main and fruits of the forest cheesecake for dessert. Bingo was on the go for the residents after dinner, loads of laughter and people having a really good time. My bed was comfy and a had a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was a full English breakfast and once again the meal was delicious. Ilfracombe is a town worth visiting so many things happening and the harbor is beautiful and of course Verity that is an amazing piece of art work standing at the entrance of the harbor, so much to do in the town and around the town – art classes, chocolate making classes and a History tour of Ilfracombe as well as smugglers talk and ghost hunting. Jump on a boat and head over to Lundy Island to see the Puffin birds and the beautiful scenery. Swim with the seals, off you go on a boat, jump overboard and swim with the seals. Great hiking trails and gorgeous beaches and even a theatre (Landmark Theatres) with some amazing shows across the road from the hotel. Golf courses are plentiful in the area and are definitely a must for the avid golfer, making Ilfracombe and Dilkhusa a place to see. I will be back! "
