This detached cottage, once a Victorian stable is situated in the owner's garden in the beautiful South Downs National Park area. There is free parking with exterior security camera. Downstairs it has a compact fully equipped kitchen, an open plan sitting/dining room (4.9 x 4.7m) and a garden room/playroom (4.5 x 2.9 m) with a variety of books, toys, games and DVDs plus a pool table / table tennis table which converts to a second larger dining table if needed. Upstairs there is a spacious family room (5.5 x 4m) which sleeps up to 4 people (1 of the single bed slots under the other when not in use) with attractive vaulted ceiling and ensuite bathroom. If a family or group of 4 want to be in separate rooms then the downstairs sitting room has a comfy double sofa bed and there is a separate toilet and basin. Enjoy snuggling into the Sherpa rugs while watching films on a cold night; make use of the Indian brazier/BBQ on a cool evening outside (please ask owner as we keep it in the main house in winter). Note that the upstairs bedroom opens onto the stairs. The garden is shared with the owners who encourage guests to use it; there is a climbing frame and slide, a basket swing and a trampoline with safety net (all to be used at guests' own risk); look out for the creatures hidden in the garden and Tree Beard. The nearest good dog walking area is Durford woods which is a 5 minute walk from the house, but we are surrounded by lovely areas to walk and good family and dog friendly pubs. How about visiting Butser ancient farm and then going onto Butser Hill for some star gazing followed by a Hampshire pub meal. Try a day in Portsmouth exploring the Historic dockyards and amazing views from the Spinnaker Tower followed by a meal and cocktail at Gunwharf Quays. For R and R try a day or an evening spa session followed by a meal at Champneys Forest Mere Spa in Liphook (5 mins drive). For Jane Austen fans you can visit her house in Chawton where she lived for the last 8 years of her life. This is a fantastic location from which to explore Hampshire and the beautiful South Downs National Park, to walk part of the South Downs Way, visit Alice Holt Forest (great climbing/play equipment for children and Go Ape) and other places of interest such as Petersfield Heath and boating lake, Gilbert White's House and gardens in Selborne, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (HMS Victory, The Mary Rose , Action Stations and nearby Navy museums), The Watercress line, Goodwood racecourse events, Paulton's theme Park, Fishers' Farm park, Petworth and Uppark house and gardens (National Trust) and the beautiful historic city of Winchester.

The home was spacious and clean. The homeowner helped my family feel at home and provided us with so many children’s books, toys, and activities.
Fantastic stay! Highly recommend for anyone in the area.
From arrival to departure we had a great stay. Our 4 year old loved the selection of toys and we certainly enjoyed the breakfast treats. Would definitely come back and recommend.
We chose the location because it was central to several relatives over a holiday visit from the US. We are so glad to have happened on this listing. Easy to get to, great hosts, great amenities. Thanks Lucy!
The property had everything we wanted, and lots more. Very spacious and comfortable. Ours was a summer visit, but the property is well equipped would be equally attractive and comfortable through the colder, darker months.
Really impressed with location of property (we attended Goodwood Festival of Speed). Instructions provided were easy to follow and were correct. House was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The kids played for hours with the provided toys and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. The beds were really comfortable and perfect after a long day walking. This will be our first port of call the next time we are in the area and we could have easily stayed longer.
We had a lovely stay in the cottage. The communication with the owner was excellent. She really went out of her way to make things as pleasant as could be, the kindest person you can think of. The cottage was large, there was a nice garden, our dog could roam free, and played with the dog of the owner. Nice bath facilities. One of the nicest stays we ever had, due to the people who run it!
We enjoyed staying here very much! The owner was very helpful and responsive to my questions. Everything was as advertised. My adult son and I stayed here, but I can see it being a great place for a couple or family to go.
The house was very spacious and so lovely. We enjoyed the garden, the veranda, and the beds were very confortable. Thanks to Lucy for such a wonderful stay.
The accommodation was perfect for us & our dog 🥰
Lucy & family are absolutely lovely ,so friendly & accommodating, will definitely be returning.
Many thanks to the Edgar family xx
The Victorian Cottage Stable was probably the best self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. There was fresh straw on the floor (only kidding) and very, very comfortable. Would reccomend to anyone.
We had a lovely week at Lucy's place. Its location is good, given its proximity to hiking trails, cultural sights, the beach and even London. The house itself is comfortable, especially the bedroom. For kids, there is an abundance of toys. Last but not least, Lucy was most welcoming and very helpful to find our way around Liss. We would recommend this place to anyone.

This is a beautiful cottage set in a lovely garden with many interesting features. The property is well situated to access the many walks in woodlands in this stunning area.
The cottage itself has lovely decor, comfortable and extremely clean and tidy with the owners including features (books, childrens books etc, lots of information on nearby areas to visit) to make the stay as enjoyable as possible.
Communication with the owners was very easy. Lovely property and great stay!
After a long year apart start and a turbulent start to my family arriving in the UK, (thanks Omicron), This little slice of heaven was a much needed respite for our family to renunite, and enjoy Christmas in this beautiful part of England. Lucy and her family are awesome hosts who treated us us like family. Even providing some Christmas decorations and a tree, to help us make this a special Christmas for our daughter. Lucy, we miss your cottage already... Much Love, Nick, Lee and Zoe
This little gem was lovely spacious, very clean and the garden was amazing, loads of things for children( games, books and toys)... kitchen on the small side but just what we needed as ate out mostly... bathroom, w/c was clean and hot water was very hot... bedroom: love the open plan as it worked for us... couldn't fault anything LUCAS (age 8) loved the outside and so did JESSIE (dog 3 yrs) thank you to Lucy and family (and millie the family dog for sharing her garden)... Thanks for being so great with early let in and late leave and being amazing when our car broke... the area is a little out the way but just what we wanted ... lovely local walks and the pub over the road was a god send..
I really enjoyed my stay at the cottage over the weekend. Very comfortable with all I need from kitchen to living room chilling out and peaceful bedroom. Lucy and Rob were lovely hosts and responded to my telephone call quickly as I needed to navigate my way to find the cottage (I'm a bit rubbish at directions)
My 2 year old dog Polly was made to very welcome. She loved the garden with all the exciting parts to explore and was delighted to meet Millie the family Labrador. Rob and Lucy were very understanding when she stood outside their kitchen door barking for Millie to come out to play!!
I needed to stay to attend a weekend course nearby so unfortunately didn't really get a chance to explore the surrounding area but from what I seen it was lovely. Did get to have a walk in a nearby forest with the dog which was lovely and convenient to the cottage.
If you are planning to stay here you will have a very enjoyable time
The cottage is an outbuilding in the garden of a house near Liss. There is one large bedroom and bathroom upstairs, with a small kitchen and fair sized living room and loo downstairs, and a games room in an annex. The kitchen had a few basic items like fresh milk, tea and coffee, which saves you having to bring absoloutely everything. There is no view to admire from the rather small windows but if the weather allows, there is a small area for sitting outside.
The weather was very wet and cold during my stay and I don't think the cottage had been used for quite some time before I arrived. It was quite musty inside initially, but it would be fine in better weather; although fully double glazed, the electric heaters struggled to keep it warm in wintry weather. The owner lives in the main house and is very helpful.
