In Portugal, in the Algarve, Pretty Villa in Monchique, With Private Pool,

"We stayed during September, when temperatures reached the early to mid-30sC.There were a few issues. We found ants on the kitchen work surfaces, so everything had to be kept in the fridge. Insect screens on the windows, and the front door, would be useful.The bed linen wasn't great. White sheets would look much nicer than the coloured, mismatched bedding, which appeared rather tatty. However, the bed was very comfortable.The bedroom air-conditioning unit is noisy, making it difficult to sleep with it switched on. Given the high temperatures, this was a problem. The poolside furniture also needs replacing, as it is worn and some items are broken.A few provisions could be improved. Two bin bags are not enough for a week, while the toilet and kitchen rolls were poor quality. A small welcome pack, perhaps including Monchique water, coffee pods for the machine, and local wine or beer, would be a lovely touch.Despite this, we had a wonderful stay. The house is old, charming and full of character. Kitchen is well equipped. Bathroom shower is excellent. Location is perfect, a few minutes’ drive from Monchique. It is quiet, relaxing and secluded, with outstanding views and a wonderful sense of privacy. The private pool was fabulous and lovely to return to after a day out.We enjoyed evenings on the terrace, barbecuing, stargazing and watching the lizards.Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return. With a few simple improvements this could be an exceptional place to stay."

"Stunning setting, peaceful and relaxing. Very well equipped property, beautiful Moroccan elements. A uniquely put together interior - thoughtful, functional and interesting, should grace the pages of any house style/interiors publication. It’s very much a home with soul. The garden is beautiful, with careful planning and lovely planting, which we really appreciated.We also very much enjoyed the games - boules, Mölkky, table tennis and the pool of course. Recommend the walk up through the trees to the fire watch tower, go back on the road toward Monchique (down and up about 500m) and pick up the marked trail up a track on the right. About 50 minutes to the top.The owner and the house manager were always very responsive and helpful"

"Really lovely apartment in a quaint mountain town, I’d say you need a smaller car as the roads are really narrow but also really interesting. Lush views. Could do with a few more basic things in the kitchen such as a grater, peeler and a can opener and we had trouble with hot water but the owners will be getting that sorted asap. Would definitely come back again. We traveled each day to different beaches on both coasts and homes in the mountains and it was perfect."

"The room is spacious and has lovely views. Unfortunately; it was not as clean as we had expected. The resort is lovely but tired and in need of maintenance and touch ups. I would definitely rate it as four stars, not five. The staff are lovely."

"This is such a lovely villa in a quiet, beautiful part of Portugal. If you're looking for sleek and modern this won't be for you but if you're looking for rustic charm then you've come to the right place. The villa is quirky and spotlessly clean with a beautiful deep pool and endless fruit-filled gardens. The villa has everything you need and Eulalila was so very helpful. Both coasts are within easy reach by car and there are beautiful walks nearby. We would definitely come back."

"Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour dans cette villa à Monchique. La villa est propre, spacieuse et confortable, avec une vue vraiment sublime sur les montagnes. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le calme et la tranquillité des lieux, ainsi que le confort de la maison.La piscine est toutefois un peu plus petite que ce que les photos peuvent laisser penser, et l’accès à la villa, situé en pleine montagne, est parfois un peu compliqué, notamment avec les routes sinueuses.Malgré cela, nous avons beaucoup apprécié notre séjour et recommandons cette villa pour les personnes qui recherchent un endroit calme, reposant et agréable au cœur de la nature."

"Have just got back from my stay at Casa Ginjeira and I have nothing but positives to say. Communication prior, during and after was fantastic. The property itself is genuinely breathtaking, well beyond any expectations I had before arrival. Property was clean and held a lot of character. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to scenic views. Pool was well maintained and a pleasant temperature. There is no air con in the main house - but with the rooms being at the front of the house, we found it was plenty cool enough for just the ceiling fan. Plenty of parking options, the only element that needs some bravery is the drive up the mountains. Will definitely be back!"
