"Though an old building, it is very well maintained. Very clean and the host (Alice) very friendly and helpful. it is beautifully placed and our room overlooked the Musselburgh Racecourse/ golfing green. Breakfast (though continental) was very nice and you were able to choose what you wanted and at what time and this was brought up to your room in a lovely basket. Our whole stay there was lovely and would definitely stay there again :)"

"The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Check in staff were very helpful. The food was mostly good but there was a bit of an issue with serving the main course and we were left waiting for a long time, with no-one advising what the issue was that was holding up the meal. Unfortunately, the steak was very rare instead of medium but we had waited so long to receive it that my husband did not send it back as it would have meant waiting even longer. Also the amuse bouche that should have been included in the summer set menu did not materialise. Other than that, breakfast was good and served quickly. I found out later there was only one chef which may have explained the delay but it would have been helpful to kept abreast of the situation. However, we enjoyed our stay and the hotel was in an excellent location with parking available, and I would certainly stay there again."

"Very clean and convenient. A little strange that I had to give my license plate number as they have a private park ing ticketing company given parking tickets out. I guess it's a way to make money off guest if they forget to punch in. Stayed in Hotels all over the world, but never seen this tourist trap before."

"Lack of instructions as how to operate the TV. and other appliances. Also what to do with refuse? . Shower was good but drips all night. Bed was slightly uncomfortable being given hard pillows but also foot end higher than head end, felt giddy. Bathroom mirror too high - not able to see oneself. Apart from that, nice quiet location, very secure , excellent hot and cold water and plenty of toiletries supplied."
