The Freehand is a good Hotel. The staff stands out. Friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about the area. The surrounding area nightlife is a bit robust but playful. The rooftop pool and restaurant was a welcomed highlight of me and my teenage Son. Overall The Freehand charming motif made for a very pleasant experience.

I don't know if I'm just not native to L.A or what, but the shower water was excessively hot. Even when it was barely turned on it was hot as hell. The A/C was also mid to okay, not very strong and just barely kept the room at a comfortable level. The staff were very patient, helpful, and were a highlight.

The hotel is very clean and the people are super nice. The roof top is so charming. The area of LA around the hotel is a little "interesting" and there is public parking around the corner. I thought the amenities fee was ridiculous since we didn't use any of the amenities.

This was a mom and small daughter trip. The hotel was beautiful. Our room was very nice. I need to acknowledge the valets they were amazing, super friendly even giving us food recommendations. The desk staff was great too. We wanted to use the pool but unfortunately it is open to the public- the whole upper deck is open to them. The restaurant staff was not that great we had to seat ourselves because no one offered help. And when we did get attention after we sat we were greeted with an attitude. Location is close to a lot of places but neighborhood is shady.

We were pleasantly surprised at how friendly and accommodating the staff was. We even were able to check in an hour early. Our corner king room was huge and the city view was interesting. There are a few stains on the carpet and some hair in the bathroom floor, but it seemed clean otherwise . We liked the decor. The bed is low and a wee bit hard, but still was fine. We love the Arts & Craft theme of the hotel. The lobby is quirky and inviting. Chairs are a bit odd, but we managed. We liked the rooftop bar and had guacamole and chips and relaxed. The $10 credit for the restaurants was nice that they give you when you check in the hotel. The restaurant for breakfast on the main floor was okay. Not a lot of choices and a few mix-ups. When we stay again, we most likely won’t eat there. For the price,we will stay again next time we come to Los Angeles. We have stayed at many different hotels in the area through the years.

Everything was clean. Staff answered my concerns and were able to handle my luggage while I spent some time exploring downtown before check-in. Cafe area was excellent for lounging in between. Overall a solid affordable spot in the downtown area.
