New Hotel of Marseille

10/10 Excellent

"We had a very comfortable stay at the New Hotel. Due to a flight delay we didn’t arrive until 1.30am but there was someone there to greet and check us in. Our room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was extensive and catered for all tastes. We didn’t use the outside terrace or pool but they looked well presented and well looked after. It’s very easy to get into the old port from the hotel (bus routes 82S & 83 stop outside or it’s a short walk (10-15 minutes) down the hill)."

"I had a pleasant stay at this hotel, primarily because of the incredible service. I was deeply impressed by how friendly and helpful the staff members were at all times. They are the absolute highlight of this property! The hotel is in a prime location in the Joliette district. It is just a very short stroll to the metro station—less than a few minutes away. I stayed here to attend a concert at Le Silo, and it was an easy walk of less than 15 minutes from the hotel. I also noticed the cruise ship port is right next door to the venue, making this a highly convenient spot for travelers. As for the room, it was nice and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Breakfast was also quite good. My only complaint about the room is the bathroom design. It has a partial glass shower door, which leaves the shower completely open on one side. Water gets everywhere on the floor, which doesn’t make much sense. The main area where the hotel could improve is its appearance. The property looks and feels very dated, from the exterior facade to the lobby area and front desk. Giving these spaces a modern update would elevate the guest experience, and I am sure the wonderful staff would appreciate a refreshed workspace too. Additionally, the exterior is not well-lit at night, which unfortunately makes the property look even older after dark. Overall, it is a decent place to stay with a perfect location, but a few cosmetic updates and a better shower design would make it excellent."
