"Well was nervous booking, but we actually loved our couple of days stay. When booking in got a slight upgrade from two singles sea view to a family seaview(double and a single). The price we payed is what we usually pay at a Travelodge, to have a room with a lovely sea view in a magnificent building was great value. Second night after a lovely meal at an Italian restaurant nearby we returned to the hotel for a few drinks , we then went thru to the ballroom and watched an ABBA tribute act again adding to the amazing value. As you can guess we enjoyed our stay, and we will hopefully return sometime next year. "

"This is a nice hotel right in the middle of town. It is about two minutes from the James Herriot house and all the shops and restaurants. The only problem is there is no lift (elevator) and you will have to carry your own bags up the steep stairs to your room. (There are no rooms on the ground floor). The staff does not volunteer to help you with your bags, so be prepared to lug them up yourself. The breakfast was very nice (and they have a vegan option), plus there is a bar and restaurant on the premises. The parking is directly behind the property in a private lot. The staff were very friendly. "

"Hotel was perfect location. Yes the walks were hilly but managable. Room was clean comfy beds very spacious. Only think is the heat in the room. Fan barly does anything. Overall we had a fantastic 2 night stay. Used the spa facilities. "

"The Old Lodge is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds and comfortable rooms but the main standout thing for us was the service - because we were going to a wedding we had to deal with very weird checkin times. Gracie explained everything to us and did everything she could to give us a perfect experience. Gracie's service made what would have been a very stressful travel situation into something pleasant and comfortable and we had a great time staying at the Old Lodge!"
