The best place to stay in Matsumoto. Rhe staff is great! The location is very peaceful, and the house is very nice. Thank you for letting us stay with you.

A wonderful dinner was included in our stay. The chef came out to explain each dish. There is an outdoor bathtub that is amazing.

Wow this was such a highlight of our trip! Def wortg the trip! The onsen was amazing, the rooms were beautiful ,the dinner and breakfast experience delicious, and the staff super sweet. One thing to note, this is about an hr bus ride from Takayama station! We cut it really close because we didn't realize how far it was, if you get there after a certain time, they can't serve you dinner so plan accordingly

The family friendly atmosphere is wonderful. My kids didn't want to leave. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and huge. Dinner was yummy too. Portion sizes are big. We can't wait to come stay again. Nao San is a great hostess.

Very kind staff!

This ryokan is the best location in Matsumoto! Along with being beautiful and super clean, you literally walk out the front door and you’re on an idyllic street with restaurants and shops. It’s also walkable from the train station, and a short walk to the castle. If you’re looking for a traditional ryokan, this is it! The host also speaks great English and is very helpful if you need anything.

This was by far the best place we stayed during our time in the Kamikochi area. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, every member of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Their hospitality was warm, attentive, and truly exceptional. The hotel is full of thoughtful details that reflect traditional Japanese culture. We especially loved all the beautiful handcrafted decorations throughout the property. The gift shop was another highlight—the owner’s mother handmakes many of...

The room was clean and quiet. The hotel was close to the Matsumoto station. The breakfast was super delicious.

Amazing ryoken

Excellent meals and clean, comfortable room

This stop in our trip was a favorite, small quaint city. Lots to do, could walk everywhere, no problem. will definitely go back to Matsumoto. The hotel was centeralized, clean, friendly, just what a traveler looks for at day's end.

Very nice family-run ryokan that's on its fourth generation. Public transit won't get you there easily- but you don't have to worry- you can call ahead and they will pick you up Matsumoto station (at 3:30 or 5:30 pm.) They will also drive you out in the morning so you can catch public transit for your sightseeing. Great food, will make you want to come back for dinner! Definitely get their house made soba at least once. Rooms were large, comfy and traditional; a nice break from the...

Easy check in.

Staff was helpful

Miyama Ouan offers an authentic Japanese cultural experience in beautiful high country/alpine location. Meals were of a variety of ingredients, delicious and always beautifully presented. Miyama Ouan rooms are very comfortable, warm, beautifully cleaned, with private and public onsen. The Hirayu location is in close proximity for bush walking, sight seeing, and to the cable car and bear ranch.
