"Bar and breakfast was amazing "

"I recently stayed at ibis budget Melbourne CBD and found it to be a decent option for a short stay. The room itself was clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated. However, the overall atmosphere felt a bit gloomy, likely due to the dark or dull paint choices. The bathroom setup is a bit unusual cuz the toilet is separated from the shower area, and instead of a proper door for the shower, there’s only a curtain located outside near the sink and shower space. It works, but it may feel a bit awkward if you’re sharing the room. There’s no microwave in the room, but guests can use a shared one in the dining area, which is convenient enough. Laundry facilities are available as well, though limited and there are only two washers and two dryers, and each use costs $5. Overall, it’s a practical and budget-friendly stay with clean rooms, but a few design and facility limitations to keep in mind."

"Excellent breakfast; asian and western styles available and delivered by staff happy in their work. Staff were very professional; attentive without being intrusive and always happy to provide suggestions or advice. Excellent location. Close to Chinatown - avoid the Shanghai Village restaurant if you want a quiet dinner - and the CBD. Make use of the free transport in the city centre; route 35 takes you around the whole city on a one hour tour. Also go on the free walking tours around the city, but leave the knowledgeable guide a gratuity at the end! Don't miss Brunetti Oro cafe for fabulous coffee and cakes."

"Good value hotel. Centrally located with easy access to tram, cafe, restaurant and attraction. Stayed here a couple of times before. Unfortunately this time our room wasn't clean and missing additional security lock. We asked for the room to be cleannes properly the next day but it wasn't done. Management eventually gave us a different room which was clean. Despite the issue, we would return and recommend as all our previous stays were good."

"Arrogant dsek staff who refused to let my wife, daughter and three young children check in (who had been caught in a thunderstorm and were scared, soaking wet and cold), because the Hotels.com booking was in my own name. My wife had ID with Medicare card, drivers license with address, and my mobile number as proof of identity. Even after I had uploaded the booking reference number with my wife named as a guest, the smart-arse on the desk said he "couldn't read it. Will never stay there again and will advise my many dozens of fellow travellers we regularly share trips with, not to consider this venue. We have travelled around the world many times and locally dozens of times, and have never struck such a moronic group of desk staff (who by the way could barely speak or be understood in our native language).
