I stayed overnight at The Sebel Melbourne Malvern to attend a midnight Christmas church service. As expected, the property is within walking distance.
The property is quiet and clean, and its proximity to Coles makes it an ideal choice for those wishing to cook and dine in during their stay

We would be happy to recommend the Sebel. My partner was in Melbourne for surgery, and it was easy to walk to the Cabrini. Access to public transport was also a big plus. We will definitely stay there again.

We stayed as a family of 3 during the 2025 F1 Grand Prix. The location was excellent; easy to navigate to via motorways & major arterial roads and trams/trains were very close offering plenty of options. The 2-bedroom apartment was clean & modern. There is a gym, spa and sauna in the complex which guests are able to use. Undercover & secure parking was available for $20/day. Sebel staff were courteous & efficient.

The hotel was in a good location, was clean and tidy but it is on a very busy main road and I was given a room with full windows to the bedroom which faced the main road so was very noisy during the day and night

Good stay. Very clean rooms and close to where we needed to be. The receptionist was very helpful with food and transport ideas.
Lost one star because there was no air conditioning in the bedrooms and as guests we were required to take out our own rubbish and sort our towels and dishes at check out which I think when paying the amount we paid this should be completed by the cleaners.

The location was convenient to Cabrini. The apartment itself was spacious, modern, clean.The Sebel Malvern is not exclusively a hotel. There were many student residents, which gave a different feel than expected of a hotel. Its location right on Dandenong Road means 4 lanes of traffic each way, trams nearby and a train line. It was really noisy all day and all night.

Ok but disappointing.
A hotel in a residential / student accommodation block. It does not feel like a hotel. There is no service - except when we were first greeted which was ok, and the room was not serviced at all. The building had a feel and smell ( mainly of inroom cooking) of a permanent living establishment. Our room was ok - a small two bedroom, but showed signs of living - the walls was scuffed, the door would not close unless pushed as the flooring had lifted and the furniture was bare minimum. There were no draws or cupboards for putting clothes in except the wardrobes that had 3 hangers. The living room couch was dreadful. The shower and toilet was clean but small. Beds were comfortable. The room was ok for a quick visit to hospital ( about 10 minute cab drive away) but i would not stay there for any other reason as a hotel.
We cost of the room was poor value.
I had a look at the terrace garden, jacuzzi, private rooms they looked quite pleasant.
There were no meal options at the hotel.
Overall it was a room - an expensive room, in a largely residential building and it was just ok for our purpose.
