"We really enjoyed this historic older building built in 1884 near the black river and close to Lake Michigan. Our room was small but comfortable; quiet at night and in the morning. We had a nice view of the water. Breakfast was phenomenal with many choices like a home-cooked meal. The only hitch was the first night where we didn’t know how to control the room’s radiator heat and it got too warm. The staff was very friendly and helpful offering suggestions on things to do in the area. We were able to do some fun trail walks seeing the beautiful fall colors and many nice little shops in town. We definitely would do it again. "

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marta's cottage. The little welcome basket and bottle of wine was delightful, along with the quiet jazz that was playing upon our arrival. The cottage is so cute, and we found it to be very clean and comfortable. It was a pleasure to get to know Marta a little bit, and it is clear she cares about her guests and wants their stay to be a great experience...and ours was!! We hope to return soon."

"Not directly on beach but just a short walk down the road. The house has several floors, great for multi-generational families. Lots of stairs, so if you have small children or elderly people this might be an issue. Definitely if you have small children you will need gates. For us, we had six adults and the house was perfect. We each had our own bedroom and there was plenty of space to relax. The kitchen is very nice with plenty of area to cook."
