"San Karlu is an excellent hotel. The location is perfect and Republic Street is just a few minutes away. The hotel is located off a road down a wide alley so you can get a taxi to very close to the hotel and the street is very safe and well lit at night. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless when we checked in and cleaned thoroughly every day. The room we had looked over the courtyard/alley below. Breakfast was good quality. The best feature of the hotel was the rooftop pool. We were there in September and it was very hot, so the pool was wonderful and appeared new (also very clean and well maintained). It really made the hotel worth the five stars."

"The property is lively and beautifully maintained. All staff are friendly, attentive and welcoming. Hotel is in an excellent location with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. However, the noise from the bars close by does continue well into the early hours of the morning. The hotel does provide ear plugs but if you are a light sleeper and go to bed early you will need to bare this in mind"

"This was not our first visit and it won’t be the last we are very lucky to have found such a beautiful hotel. The staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel at home. Their knowledge of the island is amazing and they make time for everyone especially during breakfast helping as required explaining how to find places of interest, many visitors may have never visited Malta before. All staff are very helpful nothing was too much trouble. The bedrooms are all superb with lovely cotton sheets the towels are nice and fluffy and if you need extra pillows you only have to ask.As you walk through the door you notice a beautiful relaxing hotel with no waiting to check in the reception staff immediately get up from their desk to greet you and help with your luggage.As this is a small hotel you will notice straight away you are a valued visitor to their establishment and not just a name like you find in larger hotels."

"The staff and cleaners were lovely, we enjoyed our stay here and they upgraded one of our rooms due to the occasion which we loved! The staff and concierge were absolutely lovely and they helped us as much as they could. The whole hotel has an outdated look though, which if upgraded would make this hotel an amazing one, but the corridors and room have a very old feel to it and a few of the things in the rooms were missing/broken. We only stayed for 2 nights so it wasn’t a massive problem. The restaurants close to the hotel were lovely, I’d highly recommend Caviar & Bull which is on the property, around a 3-5 minute walk. The beach was lovely and all the amenities around were amazing. There were so many pools to choose from! Overall this property was amazing but is extremely outdated, thank you for the stay!"

"Great room, spacious and modern. Facilities overall were excellent. Gym wasn't working which wasn't ideal as husband training for a big run after we got home so had to go outside in the heat which was tough. Staff all helpful and friendly from the cleaning crew to the reception team. Food in the restaurant was also very good. Would certainly recommend."
