The room was clean. The bed was ok. The toilet was not flushing properly. The breakfast was bad. Almost nothing to eat. Only some plain, old bagels and some croissants. No meat, no eggs, no cheese.
Check-in and the welcome were very friendly. The room was clean and had everything we needed in both the bedroom and the bathroom. The included breakfast was excellent with a great variety of food. The hotel's location is very convenient, just steps from the metro station.

This is an inexpensive hotel near the Village. It really exceeded expectations for price. Breakfast is included. My room was clean. I did overlook a homeless encampment from my room. Staff friendly.
Location was close to major Metro station which was good. Undergoing renovations, so a work in progress. Front desk staff was excellent ... particularly Fadwa and Ikram. Always very helpful with everything. Also, the young man who helped, on three occasions, to get my television working. It kept cutting out for some reason.

I had an interesting experience at this hotel. The staff was amazing and super friendly so nothing against the staff. They always helped with a smile. The room in the other hand...I got the queen bed with the sofa bed option. The sofa bed was literally worn out and the bed frame was pretty much poking through the mattress. The mattress or both the queen bed and the sofa bed were completely worn out. There was no bedding given with rhe sofa bed and it looked so disgusting that no body wanted to sleep on it. Plus they dont clean your room by themselves or replenish your toiletries. You need to call and ask for the room to be cleaned. Good thing my stay was only two days otherwise I dont think I wouldve been able to do a third day. If you are more than 2 people then book rooms with full sized beds and no sofa bed!

- Location is easy to get to and very close to the metro. If you exit the station where the Palace Dupuis sign is, it's only a 2 min walk to the hotel
- Breakfast foods are a simple continental breakfast: bagels, croissants, muffins, pancakes, coffee, juice, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs
- Customer service is average. Check-in was easy, and when we asked for extra towels and blankets to the room it came within 15 min
- Overall hotel and rooms are outdated, but everything works fine and is relatively clean.
- Room itself was clean, smelled good, and had good AC. Hallways had a smell lingering but that is most likely because of how many people there are and the heat of the summer.
- Could be cleaner and trash taken out faster in the public areas. Such as, breakfast tables where people leave their plates on the tables, or the public washrooms had overflowing garbage in one stall I used.

Great location. Descent hotel, but I had allergy reaction in my room probably because of the carpets and ac.

The staff is lovely! So kind and helpful. The breakfast is more than adequate. The rooms need work. The TV did not work in our room. The toilet was loose so every time you used it, it wobbled and you felt like you would fall off. The box spring was so squeaky that every time you rolled over, you would get woken up by the noise the bed makes. Just general maintenance that has been overlooked. This property should put some work into fixing these things. The location is perfect for walking to Old Montreal which is where we spent most of our time.

Didn't eat there, clean room , nice staff .. just don’t complain about anything , they will just stare at you. You get what you pay for and its good for a weekend drop in.
In general, it was listed for a good price on Expedia. The photos on there make the hotel feel more grand than it is in person. You can’t label it as 4 stars and post photos with a Ferrari outside the building. It’s misleading to guests. If all you’re looking for is a place to sleep and fuel for breakfast, this is a fine option. But those booking and hoping for the advertised 4 star hotel experience, definitely look elsewhere.
Pros:
-Montreal is super accessible by metro. The hotel was conveniently placed next to the UQAM station which is a hub for 3 subway lines and can get you to most of the tourist sites (old Montreal, olympic park, Jean talon market).
-The service was good. Unlike other reviews, I had a pleasant experience with the front desk staff.
-air conditioner worked well at all times.
Cons:
-Not a four star hotel by today’s standards. I think this is extremely misleading for those looking to book a vacation in Montreal.
-The room is outdated. The TV is old. Our carpet had gum stuck to it. The spring mattress was okay. Drawers were missing some pull tabs/handles. NO IRONING BOARD BUT HAD AN IRON.
-Breakfast left more to be desired. For a four star hotel, over cooked eggs aren’t what I’d expect for breakfast.
Other things to note:
-bathroom didn’t have a shelf in the shower for soap/shampoo/etc.
-parking $45 - pricey but has in and out priviledges
-minimal outlets in room
The room was clean and ordered, big enough for a solo trip, has a large sofa and a comfortable bed.

Beware of “parking” if you have anything other than a small car, plus it’s uncontrolled so people park anywhere and blocked us. Shower had lukewarm water and breakfast is light continental at best plus they never put it out on time but …its really well price and located, room are modern and clean.

Clean. Staff was nice. Close to the St. Catherines strip. Only thing is, there was no mini-fridge in the fridge cupboard. So we paid for a room without an amenity which was disappointing as we needed a mini fridge.

The place is nice but definitely needs some improvement like the tv. It is very old and small and a lot of static. The bed where we stayed is very bad. Was bending and we're scared it was going to collapse. But overall it is clean.
Overall, we had a good stay at Empire Suites, with a few notable drawbacks.
The location is a strong point—convenient for downtown Montreal and within walking distance to many attractions, restaurants, shops, and places like Bell Centre.
The hotel itself is older and could use some updates. We booked a room with two beds, which included one standard bed and a pullout couch for the kids. Unfortunately, the pullout bed was very uncomfortable. When we first opened it, there was also a box of condoms left on the floor, which was an unpleasant surprise, especially with children.
Aside from that, the overall cleanliness of the room and hotel was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we had no issues with service.
One thing to note is that rooms do not include a fridge, which would have been helpful for a family stay. Parking is available in the garage, which is convenient, but spaces are quite tight—larger vehicles may have difficulty.
Breakfast was included and was good, but you need to arrive early. While items were restocked, the selection became more limited as the morning went on.
In summary, this was a good stay overall thanks to location and staff, but the rooms would benefit from updates and a few improvements for families.
Room was spacious and clean. Bed was firm and a/c was quiet. It has a mini fridge and a hair dryer. It doesn’t have bath tub, shower only. Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights and the room was cleaned for 2 times. Breakfast was nice, not the best but it has quite a few selections. Boiled eggs, yogurt; pancakes, cereals, breads, croissants, oranges, apples, and bananas. I would definitely stay here again if visiting downtown Montreal. Location is the best! The Berry-Quam station connects to everywhere you go! We used the green, yellow, and orange line to travel to tourist attractions with ease. The subway is much better than ttc in Toronto…
Very thin walls so bring extra earplugs! Also the breakfast was very basic. Clean rooms though!

staff was helpful. we got a sofa bed in our room. which was stained, had no sheet and all we felt was the springs of the sofa bed. They definitely need to upgrade their sofa beds. Washroom looked to be renovated but the rest of the room was outdated.
