Took a bit of a hiatus recently to go to #japan and it was everything I dreamed and more. Thought this shot was an appropriate #takeahike entry as it was not something I expected to see in the middle of Japanese summer! Leaving in the morning from Toyama in 27+ degree (Celsius) heat to do the Tateyama Kurobe Summer Alpine Route, I thought the rest of the day would be spent in a T-shirt. What a beautiful surprise! Snow and volcanic scenery. And we even drove past some snow monkeys 💙. Falling hard and fast for Japan and its trekking routes, and finally making my Trover wishlist dreams a reality! (Tip: many more trekking routes are open in summer that wouldn't usually be accessible).

"We stayed at Prominence near the start of spring. During this time, many shops, restaurants, and cafés were either closed for the season, closed early, or had limited seating. Many bar-style eateries were also not very welcoming to families with children. In hindsight, it might have been better to stay in the Happo-One area, as it was the only ski resort still open for the remainder of the spring season. I was down with flu and she drove me to the clinic, helped me talk to the nurse in Japanese and ensured everything went well.
