"The First Colony Inn is a lovely old property in a great location for visiting the Outer Banks. Our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. Buffet breakfast choices were very good and the hot option varied each day. There's a wonderful beach opposite the inn and a good selection of restaurants and shops nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return."

"We loved the private pool and ample number of bathrooms. We also liked the updated and contemporary decor and close proximity to shopping. The rooms were spacious and very nicely decorated. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed watching the golfers as we had coffee on the deck. We disliked the location of garbage cans storage close to the entryway which allows flies to enter the premises every single time the doors are opened."

No one was on property and instructions on how to obtain the code for our room was not very clear. We booked through a third party so did not receive check in instructions. "Good room for the weekend. I would not want to spend a week there. We heard that the hotel had been sold, is no longer family-owned, and will be redone as apartments. all, it was a pleasant stay and very economical. Do I recommend yes for as long as it's open and if you are not picky? "
