If you looking for a quiet family oriented place for 1-2 nights outside Kyoto with a Ryokan and privacy. This is the place. Bring lots of games and books, nice walks along the river. It is not a large hotel and it is not easy to get to. But the right circumstances make this a perfect experience.
This is a family run ryokan business by the Kouda family. We booked a house / villa that is with attached bath and toilets. It is a very traditional house with renovated bath & toilet and owners are friendly and accommodating . Location is not very accessible if you don't drive but they fetched us from wachi station as the ryokan is located 30 mins from local train. Would strongly recommend if you want a local ryokan stay experience.
First of all it’s easy to reach as they offer pick up. It is beautiful Japanese countryside. That family is extremely welcoming. All in all an absolutely recommended
It was a great experience to spend sometime outside of the city. The location, hospitality, facilties and food were all outstanding. We were there less than 24 hours and it felt much longer.
Bright headlights from the road fairly frequent traffics woke some of us up at night.
Some blinds could be added to reduce light penetration in room whilst cutting out the traffic noise would be too difficult to do in this kind of building.
This was a delightful stay. After several days in Tokyo and Kyoto it was wonderful to stay at the ryokan for the night to relax. The food was excellent and the spa was very refreshing. Yumi picked us up from the train station and took us to see a famous nearby village with thatched roof houses. After we arrived at the ryokan in the evening we soaked in the tub for about an hour and then had dinner in our room. Such a wonderful stay and everyone from Yumi’s family was very welcoming. Would gladly return.
Cozy old-style Japanese inn with excellent food, long history and warm hospitality. Rooms are Japanese-style with a large communal bathroom, so don't expect a Western-style hotel room - instead you get the beautiful atmosphere of an old-style Japanese inn. Great also for children as the family who runs the place has three kids.
