Conveniently situated budget hotel

This is a clean budget hotel with a TV, fridge, comfy bed, reasonably priced with a subway station just across the road. Sadly there was no microwave, coffee maker and it could be a bit noisy with road traffic. Eateries just across the road.

Pleasant overall

Comfy hotel. Hot water and water pressure were incredible. The surprise $60 cash deposit you "needed" when checking in was not (considering no where else said you needed it). Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Descent enough

I would say this feels more like an upscale hostel than a hotel. (Bathroom so much nicer than expected!). The whole place is clean and all, but has a weird synthetic smell. So, here's the thing: you get what you pay for. This is literally across the street from the subway, you're in Manhattan in 10 minutes, it's cheap. Just don't expect a luxury hotel and you'll be fine.

Subway, buses, and bridges less than a minute from property. Peeling paint as well as presence of mold on bathroom ceiling in Room 310. No breakfast available still despite the fact that neighboring hotels are offering full breakfast or to-go bags. According to clerk at front desk, [breakfast is not available because we are in a pandemic.] I think the owner(s) or manager(s) refuse to offer breakfast in order to save money.

I stayed 3 nights, but the room was never cleaned. I had to change the room key everynight as it doesn’t work. And when I asked for more towels, they brought me their laundry and made me to pick up towels myself. I couldn’t get any service. It was weird. And bedding has stains.

This is a good budget option for staying near the city. It was easy to get into the city from the subway station right next to the hotel. The staff was nice. I found it very noisy, i could hear everything in the hallway, the elevator beeping, the guests in nearby rooms coughing, the subway outside, cars on the road, etc. The room was pretty good although the walls are very scuffed up. The bathroom was nice. The window didnt latch shut and i could hear the wind howling in the crack. As a solo female traveler i found the area to be a bit intimidating, especially after seeing a few people behaving oddly, but maybe I'm just not as nonplussed as city people are. If you need an inexpensive option with easy access to the city, this is a good choice.

I didn’t like that the room was extremely cold upon entry and I had to phone the front desk for someone to come and assist with the issue, and it took 1hr minimum for the room to warm up. Secondly, there was no coffee or tea whatsoever or no means of heating any up. There was only 1 tiny portion of soap to wash with. The room did eventually warm up after 1&1/2 to 2 hours… [outside temps were below 14 degrees that night. Lastly, there was a microwave on a separate floor in the corner of a hallway to warm up food that had to be purchased outside.

I can’t believe how dirty that microwave on the 3rd floor was. The entire hotel only had one microwave for the guests to go to, and it was obviously neglected by staff for a long time. The rooms were also smaller than I expected. The TV remote had old food stains on it, and I couldn’t connect my own Netflix. There was a plastic cover on the bed that was not comfortable to lie down on. But what really disgusted me about this place was the deep markings running across the wall in the room … How can you consider yourself a hotel if you’re going to neglect guest experience like this? I am disgusted, I regret bringing myself and my girl here.

We could not stay in this hotel for the state reserved a lot of hotels for migrants. Expedia did not inform me and we were very mad and sorry about this event. My daughter who was in Montreal had to reserve another hotel : Hotel L in Brooklyn.

Do not book this property. Hotel 21 Nyc is no longer a hotel as it has become an immigrant house. I arrived at the hotel and figured I could not check-in. There was no hotel personnel, and Expedia was not helpful. It was a nightmare not knowing where to stay that night. Expedia sent me this email. "Unfortunately, after multiple tries, we weren't able to obtain an approval from the property manager to waive the cancellation fee. This means the current rules and restrictions for your booking apply, and a refund can't be granted."

This was not a real hotel. It was converted to a shelter and they redirected me to a different hotel I did not book, having to walk 15 minutes out. That hotel was very filthy and could not sleep more than one night. I book a new stay after 24 hours. They ask for cash deposit which is very sketch to me, and was hesitant on letting me get a photocopy of my receipt. This is a fraudulent listing, it's not the hotel in the photos and you will not stay here. Expedia needs to remove this.
