"I was so pleased with Hostel Mundo! It has the style of a traditional Japanese home, with all the comforts that come along with that. That means snug rooms with sleeping cushions on tatami mat floors, a warm home-like environment in the common quarters, and a welcoming staff that is knowledgeable about the surrounding area of Kyoto. "The rooms are pretty spacious and for a good price compared to the place our group was staying at in Tokyo. It's a 10 min walk from the nearest station, and very close to Kyoto Imperial palace, great if you are planning a visit there. There were no major problems, and the noise concerns brought up by previous reviews were minor in my opinion, but the only negative thing I have to say is that some of the sliding doors take quite a bit of effort to move around. "The Hotel Grandvia Kyoto was a beautiful and convenient spot for our brief stay in Kyoto. The three person room was spacious with wonderful amenities. The breakfast buffet was expansive and tasty. The staff was ever gracious. Being basically in the train station was highly convenient and, if desired, one could do some serious shopping in the nearby mall."
