Breakfast is still really good with a wide selection and freshly cooked. Ideal hotel for my needs being situated close to family and excellent for days out within the Borders and close to Tweedbank for the train to Edinburgh with free parking. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again."

"Our booking came with executive lounge access which included a full breakfast in the morning and nice reception each evening that provided a variety of drinks and a rotation of appetizers and salad which were enough to make a light meal from. We found this to be a nice perk to our stay - in addition to the 24/7 access to non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. The only tricky part of our stay was the elevator. For the first few days there was only one small elevator servicing the main lobby so there'd sometimes be long waits. The stairs were easily accessible though, and provided an easy way to avoid the elevator (at least on trips going down). It was also a little convoluted to get to the fitness room (i.e., requiring you to use a different elevator in another part of the building - not accessible from the ground floor), but easy enough to figure out once we figured out the round about way to get there. There was also a small flight of stairs in the middle of the floor we stayed on (perhaps others?). The hotel was in a perfect location on the Royal Mile and very easily accessible to the Edinburgh train station (albeit requiring a pretty long flight of stairs to get up to the right level - or a slightly longer walk to avoid the stairs). It would be great if the hotel could provide access to the hotel from the lowest level (i.e., the road level that the train station exit is at). The bar/lounge on the main level was really nice and our room was comfortable and clean."

"Here’s a polished version of your review: The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, but it has a perfect location close to everything and offers beautiful views. The concierge and restaurant staff during breakfast were spectacular and treated us like royalty. We truly loved our stay. My only suggestion is that the hotel should inform guests in advance that it is under construction, as some areas can be noisy during the day. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience, and we would gladly return."

"Perched on a hillside with striking, castle-like Victorian red sandstone architecture, the Braid Hills Hotel offers a historic stay with the massive perk of free onsite parking and incredibly convenient city access via a bus stop directly outside. While the clean sleeping area feels dated and lacked air conditioning (we stayed during an unexpected hot spell), the room was kept tolerable thanks to an open window and a provided desk fan, and it was balanced by a beautifully renovated, modern bathroom. The friendly staff and a great dinner experience at the 1886 Restaurant especially the dessert. Just keep in mind that there are no lifts, so navigating the stairs with heavy luggage requires some effort, making for a solid and characterful overall experience."

"Best air conditioning we had on our trip. The location is perfect. The rooftop terrace is very nice and we enjoyed the great views each night. Would highly recommend this hotel. The restaurant service was very bad however. I know they like to let people linger and enjoy but that normally comes after the meal not before you order."
