"Stuart met us on arrival and was so helpful. Taking the time to advise us on best ways to go into town, and then changing our room to one with a separate shower rather than over the bath which was better for my husband. He arranged a taxi for us on departure day and was just so nice. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was spotless."

Could possibly be noisey in high season as our room over main entrance and smoking area. Staff friendly and attentive. Food adequate. Seemed very pet friendly, ideal for guests with dogs. Website said there is a safe located in the bedrooms, there was no safe in our room. "

"We stayed here after a really long drive, in advance of a day at Durham University. We didn’t really use any facilities as we arrived late and left early but it was great value and the pub downstairs seemed to have a warm, friendly atmosphere. "

"This is a lovely hotel which retains many of the historic building features, such as beautiful tiling, wood panelling and lighting. All done whilst providing modern and comfortable facilities in a great location. Highly recommended."

"Very comfortable,and clean. Very comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. very quiet area.The house was warm- except the kitchen which was very cold and we were unable to warm it up. Would recommend house - easy parking and near town so easy to walk to the centre and the cathedral - 10 mins. Nice stay."

"Staff was great, sadly the heater didnt work, and the little heater they provided did little to keep the room warm, in such terrible winter weather. And although the staff was amazing, they didn't offer any room changes or compensation. Thankfully we were able to find wool blankets at a near by store and bought 2 of them so that both my child and I could stay warm at night. So just think twice before you stay. I am sure the other rooms would be fine. "
