"The apartment is well maintained and was spotlessly clean. A couple of really minor issues were almost instantly resolved and the communication throughout the booking and the stay was excellent.The resort common areas are clean and well maintained. There’s always loads of vacant loungers on the sunny and pleasantly breezy beach. Buy drinks or coffee from the hotel bars with your credit card which are cheap and strong! The Dunas hotel has some bad reviews but that doesn’t affect the apartment or common areas so don’t let that put you off.Villa Verde supermarket is an easy 10 min walk away or shop in town at the Chinese-run Huang Supermarket had the best range and prices. The host can recommend great restaurants. Also try Cafe Creolo for the best cooked grilled fish I’ve ever had - and for something a bit fancier try Sal Grosso. Walk about 20 mins south down the beach to Ponta Preta for amazing seafood on the beach (plus free sunloungers for customers). Taxis are readily available outside the resort to town with a fixed fare of EUR5. It’s also a safe 35 min walk back from town if you prefer.Santa Maria is very safe but scruffy in places (this is Africa not Europe). On the beach folks will try to sell you souvenirs but they’ll leave you alone if you give them a polite but firm “no”. The resort’s WiFi is slow so don’t count on streaming movies while you’re here so download the Google Map of the island for offline use and use free restaurant WiFi to sync your Facebook!"

"We were sad that La Cabana didn't have Calamari and Spinach Crockettes. Also some of the food like pasta was cold that should have been hot at the Spices. We would have liked to have seen some pizza at the buffet. "

"Wonderful comfy beds . Nice breakfasts. Helpful staff. Clean. Piri piri restaurant on site was a disaster. Husband ordered a pizza finally got it .mine didnt turn up. Waiter said sorry coming in few minutes , half an hour later turned up with a plate of seafood rice. We were only one of 4 people. Just a bad night , he said he was sorry and no charge. Think someone was spaced out!"

"Me and my family stayed at this resort for three days and the overall experiencing was good. Staff is very friendly every-time you ask any questions they are more than happy to answer. If you have kids this resort is for you, they have a children’s pool, children’s club and activities throughout the week. The food in general if your not a picky eater it’s good, they have the main buffet and three other restaurantes you can reserve for lunch/dinner. "

"Hard to review stay as I was suffering from after effects (but clear) of recent Novo contracted in UK as lost 8-9 lbs. So did not due what I expected to do & 1/2 way thru stay started to pick up. Room, staff breakfast very good. Had nice trip to Santa Maria they provide for free. Pool fine but used less than expected as not up to it. Snorkelled in small bay up from reception. Good first 2 days last day churned up so visibility issues. Very nice walks N & S of resort on or near beach which I could not exploit as much as wished. Nice meals in afternoon N of reception. Good Super Mercardo on site S of reception"

"The resort have couple of restaurants, a supermarket and a beach. You can take a bus or rent a car, but this is a walking distance from downtown. Overall value is excellent. "

"Arrives vers 13h , nous n’avons pas rejoins le domicile rapidement . Il a fallu se joindre le propriétaire qui n’avait pas respecté le process de remise de clés comme prévu. Une heure de temps perdu. Nous avons eu une interruption de plus de 24 h d’alimentation en eau , sans explication… et lorsque les explications sont arrivées, aucune solution de remplacement. Certains murs sont décapés , présentant l’humidité ou une remontée capillaire… voir photo. À Sal il y’a beaucoup de moustiques , il n’y avait pas de grille de moustiques sur plusieurs fenêtres, nous avons étés piqués comme jamais dans nos voyages. Les villas voisines ont mis des grille antimoustiques . Le cadre est agréable , mais la villa nécessite quelques petits travaux pour respecter le bien être des occupants même si c’est pour des couettes durées : il s’agissait de deux semaines "
