Chose this hotel because of its easy access by car. 10 minutes drive from Playa Fundadores, where the main action is. Perfect Hotel if you rent a car and explore By yourself the Mayan region. The Rooms are big and beautiful, we had a beautiful view on the golf course. "

"While the lobby isn’t the more inviting due to its decoration style, the building is immaculately clean and the service is much more than excellent! Food 8/10, rooms spacious and very comfortable. Has a private beach which most Rius in the area do not. Overall experience 9/10."

"Pros: the beach was beautiful, breakfast was pretty good, the rooms were very clean and the grounds well maintained. All the wildlife at the resort was a bonus for our kids! Our kids really enjoyed the white party at Tequila on Friday night. Cons: the food options for lunch and dinner were pretty terrible, other than salad or fresh fruit, birds were eating off the buffet and people’s plates at the buffets, people leaving their towels on deck chairs all day to reserve them but not use them (making it hard to find a spot at times), and the entertainment was pretty terrible (they tried but honestly my daughter’s year end dance recital was more well done) - timing was off, music was off etc."

"This is not 5 stars. The staff that were there were fantastic. The hotel seemed understaffed. The rooms are awful. The food was better than expected but every restaurant had a 20 to 40 minute wait with tons of open tables. The white party and Sil disco or a ton of fun. "

"The hotel has a good location and a very pleasant environment. The buffet offers excellent variety and quality, especially for breakfast and lunch. However, I believe the dinner options could be improved, as they were not as impressive. One downside was that we found some cockroaches in our room, which was disappointing and something the hotel should definitely address. Overall, it is a good place to stay if you are looking to have fun, enjoy drinks, and meet new people."

"This hotel was very relaxing. It did not have the variety or quality of food that other riu brand hotels have had, but there was always enough to eat. The mattresses are hard, but the room is clean, spacious and well-maintained. The drinks were good, the shows were cheesy, and there were activities to do. There was always lots to do despite the resort being small. They have the kids club there, but kids would likely be bored. The shuttle to the beach club was convenient, and the drivers are very friendly. It stops at a central location, so you can walk into Playa del Carmen, and then at the pathway down to the beach beside the Riu Palace. Even on March Break, we found enough loungers by the beach (except for one day) and by the quiet pool to sit. There are some pretty cool Mayan ruins along the way, which makes for a nice walk. All in all, we had a nice time. "
