One of my favorite French scenes - sheep grazing on the salt-marshes near Mont Saint-Michel. A few sheep wouldn't have been a big deal, but as we neared the bay we passed this field where I estimated some 10,000 sheep were out grazing. What you see here is just one small frame from a 180-degree panoramic view.

As it turns out, these are pretty special sheep, known as agneau de pré-salé (salt meadow lamb). Their meat has a very distinctive flavor and tenderness, which we were able to sample at our dinner on the Mont.

"We decided to stay on the island and expected the rooms at the hotels to be small and old. Our room wasn’t huge but it was big enough and the bathroom was plenty large with a bath and separate shower. The staff was lovely and helpful and the restaurant was charming and delicious.
