"Birchington-on-Sea is a small seaside town with a pleasant beach at Minnis Bay overlooking the Thames Estuary and the Reculver Towers further up the coast where the bouncing bombs were tested. There are a number of buildings from the interwar period or inspired by them but the jewel in the crown is the Twentieth Century Bed and Breakfast. "We made a very last minute booking to the hotel and arrived just 20 minutes later. Kimberley on reception was amazing, helping us with a smooth check in and a really warm welcome. She got us a table in the restaurant too where we had a lovely dinner and great breakfast the next morning. The room in this old historical inn was very clean and comfy. Low doors and winding staircases add to the historial fun. The gardens are very well kept and pretty and we enjoyed exploring them after breakfast."
