"We checked in the night before our so. Graduated from Purdue. We chose Monticello because it was about 1/2 the price as the Lafayette hotels for graduation. It was a 35 minute drive to the school through rural country roads. A peaceful commute. Upon checking in Gina who was working the front desk realized I had booked the wrong room for our family and she worked her magic and got us into a more appropriate room. The gym was open which my kids said was more than adequate for a hotel, The basketball and volleyball courts were under construction as was the swimming pool so that was a little disappointing, but I don't think we would've had time for them anyways. Gina recommended Sportman's Inn to have a nice waterfront dinner and although the food and service was okay the setting and atmosphere on the patio overlooking the lake made up for it. The staff we met were friendly and helpful! We don't usually stay at Best Westerns as we are a pretty bougie family but I'd definitely stay here again. The hotel smelled fresh and clean and the room reflected that. Beds were better than so many we've stayed in. Towels probably need replacing but they were clean and smelled fresh not stale which is the case in so many rural hotels. Overall we were more than pleased and surprised! We left happy travelers. I cannot comment on the breakfast as we didn't eat it. "
